game run issue

on my new shuttle, it has a built in G33 intel graphics card, upto 384mb memory.

i thought to myself when buying this machine that the built in gfx would surely be enough to run most games on low spec, no?

well iv tried 7 new games, and none load up. enemy territory gives me a system error of the drivers and the gfx card not having something (like shaders or some crap).

but the rest just to the usuall vista program fail.

is this because i need a graphics card in it, or something wrong elsewhere?

im abit dissapointed that it cant play games yet.

just because it has a lot of memory doesnt mean its good, it could be shared memory, which means it actually takes memory off your ram to process graphics which is crap.

Are all your drivers up to date?
If still no luck do the best thing you can do
Dual boot XP or just uninstall vista.

yeah it is shared memory. but i thought it wld b good enough for now to run games on low settings.

no new games work, only game iv got running is battlefront 2.

i tried to run lost world, and it told me i didnt have the right shaders. so i presume its just the onboard graphics card isnt suffisticated enough to play new games.

and i want to get away from xp, the mb in this shuttle was designed for vista, so i shldnt see why that shld cause any problems.

ill try find a newer driver. wld the driver contain the shaders, or the actual graphics card though?

anyway, im not bothered about buying a new gfx card, i new id have to do it eventually to play games i wanted (was just trying to save on the money for a while).

one more question. whats the best graphics card i can get for around 150 pounds? it has to be pci or pci-e, and not too big or power comsuming (the 8800 is out of the question as its too wide, long, and requires a larger psu than what i have.

i was the nvidia 7900 looked quite nice. but its AGP . nvidia please if possible.

The graphics card holds the support for shaders, but if you have out of date drivers that could cause issues.

A lot of game problems that are caused in vista (not mainly in next gen etc games) is because of the location of the my documents folders.

I doubt and graphics card that is integrated has the power to run the shaders, but can you not open a config for the game without actually going into it (some times in the game folder or in a tools folder) try that see if you can disable shading.

The other option you can try is upgrading direct x, having vista im pretty sure DX 10 is preinstalled although im not sure, and your graphics card wouldnt be able to utilise it anyway. the easy way to check is to do to start > run > dxdiag.exe that will tell you what version you are running.

Both enemy territoy and lost planet complain about lack of shaders i have, but neither have any external config files.

Yes as most internal g/cards dont have the facility for shading.

iv found an 8800 GT 512mb card for 150£. and apparently it will just fit in my case.

is this good for the price? or is there better out there?

iv just got call of duty 4, and can play that as smooth as anything on my old p4 computer, yet it wont attempt to run with my new one.

if i get a graphics card will this solve all my game issues? im getting alittle worried that the shuttle is going to act like a laptop and not play anything smoothly :/
