hyds suggestion makes complete sense, a game shop with just cosmetic items will not cover the server or keep the staff interested over a long a period.

hoody dont be nasty its 66% better than the rest of the uk, post yours i bet its slower??:P

i didnt say it because i thought mine was better! just gay to post your speedin your sig like it makes you cool!

res potions =/ if you die you die. run back. some kinda update needs to happen about the plans of what they are going to do because as mentioned buying cosmetic items have no interest to many people who will play.

Someone should do a Poll, hyds idea or a Gameshop.
it dont even need to be £5, after all they said they just want to cover costs, so £2 or £3 would easily cover that, even a £1!
if they went with hyds idea, anything they had in mind for the gameshop like armour dyes mayb, could be put in drop files.

£5 a month? Wow is £9 and that's huge compared to a ripped off Un-official server :P

Also we think 100+ will be playing? that's 500 a month! Should be no more then £2 a month. Maybe make it so when you hit 40+ you have to pay the £2 monthly to continue (like euro was level 20 max before you had to pay)

Indeed, I wouldn't pay more than £5 per month and if you were able to, I would be less excited to play.

Server would not be half as popular as it was if people HAVE to pay to play. Oh yea 5-15 people on the forums have said they would pay 2 play. That's really going to cover the costs..... Of what?

The question is do they want a popular busy server with happy players that will last some time while they maintain it & get a steady cash flow
or do they want to isolate the people with more money than sense, and have a short-term real world cash injection by making them godly while the population drops.

I'm hoping for £5/month base, and maybe another few quid over the month for some super torches/amulets and some other little bits.. I'll enjoy the server.

However if certain people can come in, spend £200 and have all the gear/skills I'd need to work like a dog for over a period of months then...no thanks, and before anyone jumps on me I know of people who spend triple digits each month on Pay2Win games - usually spurred on by monthly "Gift Box" type promotions.

I've managed to stay away from private servers as I am not willing to invest time into a character to then have it taken away on the whim of the server's developers. I finally gave in when someone suggested I tried acem2 and that was almost my last private server for the same reason.

I really doubt these devs are daft enough to make the server pay to win but I also hope they put enough useful stuff in the gameshop to ensure their hobby is not costing them a penny and hopefully make the server last longer.

Also as I've said before on this topic, £5 per month is an extortionate amount to charge for a private server of a 12 year old game. They'd probably make more money charging £3-£4 as I'm sure more would be inclined to pay and some would maybe even pay for 2 accounts... Family discount for my alts!

Server will 100% not be P2W all 3 Devs are extremely against this. (if only they'd pop up and say themselves). P2W does nothing but ruin it for everyone and i defiantly wouldn't play if it was. :)

Thats good news, but doesn't address the worry that they wont generate enuff to cover costs that way. a game shop full of shyte wont sell fk all.
so were back to an ace scenario... closes coz they cant cover server costs.

hyds idea would create a constant and steady cashflow, even charging a quid, and leave server free to play for tight fkrs.

Yus, there is the worry for the public i guess that it won't generate enough income to cover the server, but if there's enough people playing and there's small, but not game breaking bits to buy, (not just cosmetics but not big enough to cause any problems) i reckon it should be ok? And i'm pretty sure that if for any reason there wasn't enough income for the server they'd not close it... they'd have to come up with something else though because all the time and effort they've put into it would be an epic waste of time, not to mention the backlash they'd get from the players.

And to add to the wall of text, i've also read/heard quite a few people ask where they can donate, and even on ace there was people saying they'd be happen to help cover the server costs (80?), hopefully it'll be the case here too :)

For Donation you really need to either :

1. Give a small buff to the player, for a small price with a long duration. Example of this would be say £5 a month for 1.1x exp, 5% drop boost, dc/mc/sc +5 etc etc.... this way every1 can afford it so you will make alot of money off loads of small donation.

2. make it so people can buy ingame items/exp pots, but have everything that they can buy accessible to players that do not donate. put the nicer items at a higher price, this way a few big donations fund the server.

you cant donate for exp so dont even try getting people to agree with that stupid idea.

i would not pay at all for a free game we didnt even pay for wemade mir3 or any other server for that case maybe back in the day but why would anyone want to pay if its been live once before and its remade with a new class if there is a game shop then people will ofcourse use it if they want, but no exp or nothing as you know yourself be down before you know it.

No revive scrolls/resurrection pots please for all the same reasons lots people wanted them removed from servers that had them.

Agree £5 seems a lot. £2 better If they get loads cash then maybe every so often they can declare a free month.

A cash shop is by far the best solution in my opinion, with cosmetic or only slight buffs (say hard torch that slows dura use by 20% or w/e) 10% exp scrolls those kind of things. Other people can still by them for in game gold, so everyone can be on similar playing fields.

Monthly subscriptions discourages people instantly from even trying.

I don't think anyone is suggesting a subscription, rather an optional monthly buff for a small fee. Mir3 global had a "Mir Package" that gave an exp+drop buff that lasted 30 days.

Small exp buffs that last an hour, 2 hours, etc is the worst thing I could imagine being added to the gameshop but a small exp buff that lasts 30days for £2-£3 is something a lot of people (myself included) would not have an issue buying to help keep the server running.
