I don't think anyone is suggesting a subscription, rather an optional monthly buff for a small fee. Mir3 global had a "Mir Package" that gave an exp+drop buff that lasted 30 days.

Small exp buffs that last an hour, 2 hours, etc is the worst thing I could imagine being added to the gameshop but a small exp buff that lasts 30days for £2-£3 is something a lot of people (myself included) would not have an issue buying to help keep the server running.

Exp and drop rate increases should not be in cash shop at all. These 2 stats being too high were one of the main reasons that were brought out as wiping out the first server. Going through all this trouble to just take these 2 stats back high again as long as a player pays is completely redundant.

Also what happens on when guilds will want to do guild hunts? No Bob you can't come along since you are not paying a subscription and will ruin drops for everyone! Bob stop shooting u cheap bastard, we won't get good stuff! Oi cheap bastard go reroll a tao if you're not gonna get a sub!

Exp and drop rates are just too integral parts of this game working and should be handled like cows in India. Better to have subscription based access with no bonuses, than a buff that is both p2w and detrimental to the social aspect of the game.

Only way I see exp and drop buffs working is, if it's based on a server donation pot. When the pot has enough money donated into it that server can run to the end of the next month, then server runs on increased exp and drop rates.

From what I see from every other thread than this is that people want low rate server, but now suddenly there are people who want to buy exp. Saying you wan't a low rate server and then wanting to pay for these stats to be buffed is hypocrisy.

I've played so many p2w free games when I was younger. I find it's very bad game design and I would never support or play a game that is based on grinding and sells any amount of experience. If I were to go ahead and pay for exp I'd know that i'm in top because i payed to get there and if I don't, then I won't be in top and feel **** aswell. For me, there is no way to enjoy a game that goes down this route.

e Other people can still by them for in game gold, so everyone can be on similar playing fields. .

No not that. Anything that isnt cosmetic should be not tradeable, disappears on drop cant be put on TM and anything else that makes it so only the purchaser can use it.
Other wise you get the loadsamoney types spending huge amounts, selling ingame and then outbidding everyone for anything worth having.

Exp scrolls drop scrolls revive scrolls dura torches no drop potions buffs all change the gameplay significantly. Ask anyone who played USA or its clones. There were many well reasoned posts on those forums about why these things shouldn't be ingame.

you cant donate for exp so dont even try getting people to agree with that stupid idea.

i would not pay at all for a free game we didnt even pay for wemade mir3 or any other server for that case maybe back in the day but why would anyone want to pay if its been live once before and its remade with a new class if there is a game shop then people will ofcourse use it if they want, but no exp or nothing as you know yourself be down before you know it.

Wemade Mir3 had a cash shop with ExpPots, Rev Scrolls, Mounts, Buffs and all sorts.

No 'free to play' game will have purely cosmetic stuff in the shop

but did you 'HAVE' to pay to play.. ermm i don't think so.

No you didn't HAVE to but
the ones that did were the ones that either dominated the server because they were 10+levels higher with much better kits and didn't mind dying because they used no drop potions and revive scrolls. Some players can afford to purchase for a group of family and friends and even fund whatever guild they are in.
Often called pay to win which is what a lot of people are hoping to avoid here.
There is the option to have a little hunt with your mates and not even try to compete but given testosterone and egos that isn't how a lot of people play.

Have to disagree with you totally here take a look at Path of Exile. F2P and only cosmetic items available in shop, nothing that can affect gameplay.

There will have to be some sort of income whether it's pay to win items or not. If there are no bonuses or perks for "donating"(call it what you will) or subscribing then people will more than likely tend not to bother. It can go from 1 extreme to the other. Great all these people saying yes I am willing to pay so much a month but when it comes to the reality how many will ?

Or they can put game changing items weapons and armors in the shop that you can buy with donations then when you get pk,d you drop the items and then the server becomes money grabbing like a few more that are out there.

either way they have a hard choice and not everyone will be pleased, but no money incoming will eventually = NO Game

Alrite fair enough...

But pulling that off on Mir? LOL! Won't happen

I would honestly purchase a weapon glow (Presuming I could use it over and over) or a pet that auto lots for me or something (And is also invulnerable)

But will I pay for wings? Haircuts? No....just, no

Mir doesn't have near the amount if cosmetics as this Exile game does. Maybe if it did it could work, but it's simply out of the question.

If there were more (Like I mentioned) I can see it working and tbh, even I would buy some

I am not keen if having money to spend gives advantages. Why wouldn't Hyd's clever idea do the trick? reduce the exp in game and everyone can buy an exp boost from the game shop costing not much every month.
if some people cant have bank accounts with no m8s to pay for them then make it so ppl can buy 2 or even 3 but they don't stack and they expire at the end of the month. Even that means sellers have more mirgold than other people

10% scrolls are alot different than 200% scrolls, 20% dura is alot different than no dura loss etc, just have to be smart about it.

Additionally at least this way a portion of the money goes to the server. Did you play Ace? You know there are people on there who I won't mention who bought all there gear, who bought there gear on usa and who will buy it on this server just the same?

a Month long buff for 3X exp is worse than a subscription and a p2w game shop, it becomes a mandatory p2w subscription lol. Unless the buff is only like 10% or something.

Can I just say that when I initially posted my idea about the x1 --> x3 XP increase I did not put a great deal of thought into it, realistically the gap should be smaller - but not so small that people wouldn't pay it. So don't get hung up on the massive difference between x1 rate and x3.

Even a 2.5 XP (base) --> 3 XP (buffed) for £2.50/month would suffice to keep the server online for many years.

I want to donate to the upkeep of the server but I won't bother to do this if others are able to donate significantly more than me as I'd effectively be paying to lose.

The way to go about this whole gameshop idea is to either put in a monthy package or to limit the amount of RL cash you can inject into the server each month (£5 limit).
Having people buy gameshop items that are not bound to your character will ruin the economy.

some of you seem to miss the point...

the server exp is x3, so hyds idea isnt giving anymore exp than was intended. So calling it paying for an exp boost is wrong.
you pay to get normal exp or play for free at reduced exp.
As those furry fking rat things would say.. Simplez!

The only exp increase that would be fair be it pots or monthly buff, would be 1.1-1.3x higher then the servers actual rate. Any higher would be very game breaking.

However I guess if it was higher it would mean the people with full time jobs could actually keep up with the ones who don't.

If they added cool looking armours(looks only that goes over your current armour), then I would actually be tempted with that. I like my character to look cool while playing it.

Exp Pots > Level Cap.

The only way i can see Exp Pots working in Mir tbh, once you are capped you will farm for the best gear until the level cap is raised so donators will be firstly geared, this imo is there reward but for none donators it just means it will take them longer but eventually they will be at the same level as the donator.

Having no level cap while having exp pots in game, your only going to see a huge gap in level between donators and none donators, it will never change and will get worse and worse the longer the server stays up.

But then you have the comments "when maxed, what we suppose to do?" tis a good question, team need to add end content on capped levels for people to do when they wait for cap to be raised.

Think i suggestion this before but not so many liked the idea but i think it's a good way for a server to survive and keep a decent community.

what do you do with all the repulse, shoulder dash spells etc?
when they dont work coz the whole servers the same lvl.
mir was never designed for a cap.

Where Warriors designed to out level Wizards? Nope, so ShoulderDash is a flawed skill? Mir was never designed for a lot of things you will see in Mir these days.
Those skills mentioned have always needed a recode, i mean what sense is there to have a skill which will only work based on Level, the quickest leveling class here comes superior in that department and cancels out the others.

Shoulder dash is an excellent skill, use it correct in pvp it's a win. It wasn't designed to just dash people ;)

I agree any ex pots should not give a huge advantage but make it viable for it to be affordable to the vast majority just to guarantee people will pay. I would gladly pay 15-20 quid a month as both me and gf are playing and i've been waiting ages for a decent low rate that would still feel like real mir. If it maintains a good user base and things are worth achieving but is still challenging then I would gladly help keep it stay up, i think low rate makes this more likely as people want to keep all the hard work theyve done and as long as the user count is decent its worth paying if you get enough hours of gameplay out of it.
