I hope you realise geek is not constrained to the land of software design/programming.

The term geek can be applied to any area in which a person excels beyond reason and enjoys doing so: In which case merely understanding an algorithm within one programming language wouldn't necessarily indebt you the title, expanding and explaining the history of it while fixing the code however might.

The fact that when in my office I will endeavour to not only fix the problems that come at me (normally fixing hardware and explaining software), sometimes even writing basic programs to carry out functions leads my entire office to stereotype me. But it's something I take pride in and they know it, had I taken offence then this wouldn't be the case.

Another example is me and my girlfriend, we're pretty much full-time residents at imdb and have watched nearly every film under the sun... because of this we often cross-link actors, voice actors etc while watching movies with others. And we get called Geeks for doing so. But we also win at film quizes so meh.

As for the year old pic, well... it's a year old.

I'm actually trying a new apporach, I see so many of the e-kids talking about how they're a black belt in kick-your-ass these days etc and I like to jump on it. Sadly you didn't take the bait, but you'll rarely ever find me talking about how "hard" I am/not. But yeah, I wouldn't actually ever hit a 14 year old. So you're **** out of luck.

So because of the thread starter seeming to be a complete **** (only to be further by blam backin him up) I have decided to waste some of my boredom by writing this reply which may actually be my longest post on lomcn EVER (excluding code anyways) lawl.

Kud/watever ya name is u really do need to get a life and i aint just sayin that, people get called names 24/7 they either put up with it / respond back with the same / do something about it.

Theres no need to make a thread about it as its merely going to get you abused and abused and abused and abused. Its lomcn of course theres people who are gonna do the exact opposite because quite frankly they + others find it amusing and entertain themselves doing so.

Geeks are no differant than chavs, emos, chemos, goths, pretty boys, scallys and what not except those who are usually get called geeks are who get discriminated against as their usually the weaker people who cant do anything about their obvious knowledge but weaker strength, there are 'geeks' who are strong + can fight back but because of the increase in strength their not percived as geeks but instead just intellegent.

And if you hate seeing it so much just add the people who use these 'hurtful comments' to you ignore list so you never have to read their posts ever again
