bin wanting to get a guitar and learn to play for years now, just neva bin motivated.

i know nothing about playing any instruments (i can play a few short songs on the piano) but know no keys, or chords etc.

what electric guitar wld b best to start off with

and are they any easy methods of teaching myself knowing the fact i dont know a single thing about music?

i will find u a good cheap guitar in a bit bud. if u rly wana learn how to play guitar i wud strongly reccomend learning cords first (this will ease up the playing off ur fingers) then as ur getting the hang of them go on to learning Scales of the guitar this will get u uused to using ur fingers indivdually.

dnt go straight into learning power cords as these will get u hooked an will never help u out 100% in the future.

i know this bc iv just started playing guitar an i have self tought me self an i wish i had done it in this order.

that is the best advice i or any 1 else cud offer u at the moment, the rest of it like a cheap guitar is up to u, u just need to go into a shop an try them out an wen u find 1 thats comfortable to play ( for u not everyone else) then thats wen u know u have a guitar to learn on

Dont bother with tab, it sucks, its like playing bass on an electric, for people not intelligent enough to learn chord, just learn chord, ive been playing for a year now, know alot of chords and some great songs to.
I guess you are one of those "bass is easy to play" people am i right?

Right need some help with tuning.

6th string = E
5th string = A
4th string = D
3rd string = G
2nd string = B
1st string = E

Standard tuning.

Is that playing the string open or playing the 5th fret ( except for 3rd which is 4th fret)?

Im a bit confused, got myself a chromatic tuner so actually finding the note isnt a problem. It just doesnt seem right if you play them open because the 6th string is nice and low like it should be but if you play 5th open going by those rules its way up high.

do E minor and if it sounds fine, then u no its ok.. btw.. low E has a thicker string so it will have a more dense sound than B.

Its ok i got it now mate, not sure why i was getting so confused, Learning my chords now.

If anyone else is learning to play i recommend getting a book instead of using websites, explanations are so much better.

String 6(thickest String) = E
A
D
G
B
String 1 (thinest string) = e

You people are horrible, guitar tabs are the worst way to start learning guitar, you'll just end up learning how to play songs then you'll be stumped when it comes to playing music of your own, first learn chords.

Use Guitar Pro 5 for the best way to learn it, or just google image search for a chord sheet. Here's how they work:

Then after that move onto scales. These are closer to tabs, but when you learn chords and scales, you should very easily be able to make up your own rythym AND lead parts, you'll pick up keys etc. as you are learning chords and scales.

Also, a slight little note, chords like E when actually taking off your finger one produce E minor, as Pyraine says.. learn your basic chords :)
