Started my new job on tuesday and i saw this Golf for sale for £1000 and its really taken to my liking. Got the guys number and so on and going to ring him tonight about more details.

It's just had a new gearbox, clutch and had the exhaust done etc. Just wanted comments from some other people here wether the car is worth it.

Got a few insurance quotes on it and cheapest is £133 a month. Which i'm willing to pay and it's not too high considering ive been driving for a year and had one accident so any comments?

Not sure as i say i need to talk to the guy and couldn't really see the clock, but it does state that its travelled to denmark and that's a 1,000 miles so im guessing it might be quite high but i hope its only gone a couple of times.

ud say, but the BBS's alone r worth a small fortune and the paint looks pretty clean so its bound to be resprayed and with all that money drilled into parts for it 2 recently, whats hiding beneith, floors could be rotted out for all we kno....

a mk2 gti 16v that spec for a grand, either a box of nails or sum1 dont kno what there selling..

Hmm well i'll speak to the bloke tomorrow see whats been done if it's got log books etc hopefully he doesn't know what he is selling i'd love to be driving that

My Step Bro had one looking the same as that.

His was in perfect condition, sold it for i think 2-3k.

Great cars, like **** off a shovel too.

He's got an old RS Turbo, and a D reg Escort Cabriolet all in perfect condition too.

The Cabriolet was up for sale on Auto Trader but gone now, she he may have sold it now.

get service history, receipts etc, mot advisories, either take it for a test drive or get him to take you out in it, reason for selling? at a guess if its as well spec'd as the pic he knows the dub scene, and for that price theres sumit acropper with it =\

define decent? in your eyes it could be an 08 plate corsa.. to myself, this is just another commercial box driven by the masses.

now granted im a sucker for dubs n old skool, so clearly to me 80s/90s golfs appeal to me aswell as bugs, minis etc i love how understated they are when really ull find a mk2 golf to be pretty well built..

thing with old skool etc, theres scene tax, where ppl slap extortionate prices on cars due to ppl thinking they are kool...
