thats only to get out of ur 12month contract ....the 400 is for the rest of ur payment that htey owuld have recieved i'm guessing becuz i tried to cancel it before.
pipex is really reliable and i have had no problems with them the 1 year and a half i have been with them, also there customer support is pretty good

From ADSLGuide.org.uk (or whatever its called) I learnt the following;
TalkTalk is horrible. Poor customer service and the contention is too high (lots of users sharing same pipe = slower speeds). (Not the ted stevens idea of pipes). I think they also have quite a mean set of caps.
You have to read the Terms of Service before you apply for anyone. You don't want to sign up for someone, find they're rubbish and then be locked in for twelve months.
If your a heavy P2P/downloader avoid ISP's like Pipex which get really pissy about those types of things. Also be aware of ISP's which may shape traffic to slower the speeds of things like BitTorrent traffic or ZIP downloads.
If you go for 8mbit thats only the theortrical max speed of the line. The actual speed will depend on the quality and distance of the line from the exchange. Theres a checker on the BT website if you want an idea. You do get a minimum of a 448kbp/s upload tho
