1st - 5 \ 10 - Not really my colour or design :S
2nd - 7 \ 10 - Same but can see more ppl using it and liking it.

the first image , the font lets it down 2bh.
Try and do this -
1. Click on the background layer
2. then hold ctrl + c and select the "text layer"
3. Then press Ctrl + v and go to blending options and change as u wish , this makes the color of the font as the background.
Or some people prefer just to do soft light but it looks just sheet.
And for 1 pixel border -
1. Create a new layer , take the pencil and draw a line from left to right.
2. Move the line down (to the bottom of the signature make sure u can still see the line.
3. Duplicate layer and move the line up
4. Duplicate the layer again and rotate it 90* ccw and move it side ways.
5. Do same step ^^
6. Merge all layers together (looks more neat) , saves confusezement if your making something else.

I aint made the background as it would take me about 10-20min lol to make it look good . I was thinking of writing a tutorial then i changed my mind as i seemed to make the effect the long way so i stop as no one will do it.
Heres a version of it -
Make a new layer , pick your background (yellow, pink , red etc). Make a new layer , take the rectangle tool , make a square and fill with white squares but lower the opacity so it doesnt look ****ed up.You can also add a ligher version of ur background colours.Start putting the squares on the image until your happy with it.Also you can go and add diagonal lines for that go to www.good-tutorials.com i cbb 2 type it up. Commen sence 2bh >.< also u can take some "millitary"brushes and add it will look good (soft light it).Or even quiker , make a new layer color it any colour u want , render a cloud and filter >> texture>>mozaic title and edit there will look sumthing similar.Hope this helps.
