not always neo, look the the clock speed, pixel pipelines etc. the memory of the card doesn't always mean its better, some dynamically use your system ram also.

shard can you post some links mate? and can you post some info on your motherboard, like if it is AGP or PCI-e compatable

Sorry Chris mate, forgot about that. They're part of this custom PC build.

http://www.pcoption.co.uk/pcpackages/index9a1.htm

I've tuned it up a bit and got it to a fairly decent price, around 550 quid. Just not sure about the graphics card. Can't find the motherboard =S I'll ask their support team. I think these graphics card are chosen so that they fit in with the motherboard supplied with the package, so anyone will do. Current system I will be buying has these specs:

AMD Athlon 64+ 3000
160GB SATA HDD
1024 DDR RAM (Not sure what type, oh wait, its 400)

It comes with the software on that page, and a TFT monitor, for about 550 which isn't bad I think. That's with the first graphics card on the list but as I said, I'm not at all sure about them >.<

It's £608.64 with the following specs now:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
15" TFT
FX5700 256MB
160GB SATA HDD
1024 DDR RAM (400)

And loads of other stuff, thats with software too (XP Home, Nero 6, AVG, Office Suite Word Processor, Adaware 6, Power DVD)

Without software it is...£555.76

tbh, try and go for a bigger monitor. 17"? 19" if possible. i have a 19" monitor on my new build and it totally kicks ass

I could try, I've just upgraded it to a 3400+ as I got rid of the software package. Maybe I can go down to a 3200+ and get a 17" TFT and should stay same price. I'll check now.

EDIT : With a 3400+ and a 17" monitor it goes to £625.73.
With a 3400+ and a 19" it goes to...£682.

No point in a 19"tft over a 17" imo - they both give the same resolution

Aye, you can get ones with decent response times now; on 16ms I can see hardly any difference between this and a CRT.
As for size; go for 17", they're the best value right now.

I thought we failed C1 and C2? Oh well...I'm dropping it.

ON-TOPIC!

Hopefully gonna be getting this PC soon, unless anyone can find me an AMD Athlon 64 Laptop with a decent graphics card for under 650 =P
