grid sort of thing.

i need to add a grid look in the background of my new page layout..
inside the grid sort of thing i want it greyish or white colour , ourside it i want it black or grey with a grid sort of thing (lines going down side ways).

(in gif format so has a loss of colour)

You want a background image that just is set to tile, like on a desktop background.

i tried doing a small 100x100 px image (grid)
then i tiled in Dreamweaver . didn't come out how i wanted...

draw a picture like this:

Make sure each side is equal in length and that they touch the sides if you get what I mean, it should tile perfectly.

Start a 3x3 pixel canvas, set the background to transparent.

zoom right in
using pen tool, colour the pixels using black in this pattern (below)
[x][ ][ ]
[x][ ][ ]
[x][x][x]

click edit > define pattern > 'name of pattern' > ok

open the image you want to add the grid to in photoshop

select the layer you wish to apply the pattern

click edit > fill > pattern > 'select your custom grid pattern' > ok

But yeah, I just discovered the flaw in my technique, so don't use it, use wittins buton a larger scale.
