Ok ive managed to set up a mir server through my router, im using the server ip config proggy i got from the leocrasher website (the one with laggless ip setup, tried and tested on other servers i guess).

So i set up the server at 213.228.240.161 (ip changes alot, in process of getting staticone and connection seed upgrade) anyways, i got meh laptop set it up with a dial up connection and had no trouble conntecting to it over the internet. But when i try and access my server from one of the computer on my network, it dont work

There must be a way to do it, how else would people admin their servers.

If any of you have managed this can you give me examples of your server and client ip setup

Cheers

Mike

Setup a New Network card. Thats one way to connect. Tbh i havent tried to connect on my network.... but if you've tried the below then dont worry :p. I'm sure you alredy searched or tried this method.

If you've got it working over router... why you wanna try dial up? I probably read you post alittle wrong, if so forget all of the below :P

For XP
------
- Hardware Wizard,
- Have "Yes, i have already connected the hardware" click next,
- Go to the bottom of the list, select "Add a new hardware device", Next,
- "Install the hardware that i manually select from a list"
- Network adapters, Next
- Microsoft, Microsoft Loopback Adapter, Next to install it.

- Go to Network Connections.
- Right click the Microsoft Loopback card you just installed, and click properties
- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click properties.
- IP address: Your internet/WAN IP.
- Submask: 255.255.255.255, Leave the rest of the options below and click Next.
If you get a error, go down one digit to 255.255.255.254, and if that dont work, go down another digit etc.

Set all your IP's in your server files to your internet/WAN IP, start it up, and in your client you insert your Internet/WAN IP again. Then you able to connect aswell as people outside your network.

Only other thing you'll have to do is forward the required ports.

that worked, well for 1 pc.

I can now access the server from the main pc (the one hosting it) by using the setup you specified. but...

i have up to 7 pcs on my network and they cannot connect to it regardless of what i try =/

Any more ideas

Mike
p.s leaving the server online for a day or 2, feel free to check my lagginess O_o lol

edit, forgot to put server name ere, its legendofwales at the moment O_o

What Router are you using?

router is setup perfectly, i have a pretty big network ere.

4 port switch/router, connected to 2pcs and an xbox, then from there to andother 4portswitch with connests to another pc and laptop then onto another 4 port switch downstairs that connects to 2 pcs.

but as i said the network and router are set up perfectly. and when i changed the server ips to the local host ips rather than the wan ip, all the networked pcs connect to server fine(using the local ip). But when im using the wan ip, im only able to connect to the server from outside the network, well except now i can connect to the mir server from the mir server pc using the method detailed above.

did you have any luck? I'm still having the same problem - any1 can access except pc an the adsl/network hub. I use the conexant *getting model no* which is a adsl Modem/4-port router/network hub.

currently using port forwarding as its safer and I just couldnt get dmz to work properly.
