help dvd writer problems

heya guys got a problem which is really annoying me , i just bought 50 dvd-r discs and nero wont reconise the blank discs , windows does but not nero , therefore cannot burn anything onto them.

but dvd+r ( i nicked 2 off r lasses dad ) and nero reconised them fine and will burn to them..

so whats different between dvd-r and dvd+r because i thought both was same.

someone enlighten me please!!!!!

what's the model of your writer?
google it and see if your writer supports writing dvd-r (most should nowadays if not all)

now the next thing is... which version of Nero are you using? nero should have a feature like Show Disc Information. See if it has anything useful.

There are other free programs, like ImgBurn, CDBurnerXP. You can try those.

in fact google has become something I really like but also wanted to stay away from.

For his problem, I don't think google will give you a good answer.
