Why would you want to use that? You are bound to run into problems with functionality. Instead of having someone else ASSUME what you don't need and disable those stuff, google for windows xp tweaking guides and disable everything YOU don't need.

But, if you really do want to go the painful way.. I'm pretty sure if you autorun the CD from within windows, it will give you an option to "update" your current installation. If not, booting form the CD and using "repair windows" should also do the trick.

Nonetheless, you should always back up your important files.

from ur post i am getting the feeling u don't really like the speed of ur computer so i will assume thats ur prob atm, if i am wrong correct me.
so if thats ur prob, i would suggest u install either old OS (such as windows ME) or u can try that Windows TinyXP BEAST Edition.
about the windows u want, just read what that guy wrote about it:

"Release Notes This has been made for you that refuses to get assf***ed by M$ and their allies whith the help of that DRM/TC/Palladium infested POS that they call "best Windows ever"..! And with the introduction of DirectX 10 (that ofcourse will not be available/ported to XP) they try lure us to give up our privacy and freedom of choice regarding our internet and computing habits... I like to play my games and REFUSE to install that crappy bloated full blown Vista POS, so this has been made with my own preferences and needs in mind. This Tweaked Vista Is Simply Made For Running Games Smoothly As Vista Ultimate Eats Up Lots Of Resources.
Performance and simplicity is the key word here, this baby has been tweaked and tuned to simply blow your socks off!!
There is nothing here that will satisfy those who like that gayish Aero Glass theme, actually there is no theme at all...the classic one is the only choice
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that can be a threat to us and that are not needed for regular use and gaming has been removed. So understand this, there is: NO Media Player NO DRM module NO .NET3 NO Firewall NO Search/Index function ...and a ton of other stuff! ..if you really feel you can't live without that, simply don't bother grabbing this. Now, due to the lack of .NET functionality you ATI jocks will have to opt out for the CCC and manage with only the drivers."

so i highly doubt there is any advantage about this windows except direct x 10 (that most of the games that might need it, will not run on ur computer).

about the backup, i am 100% agreeing with Ragnar, always keep backup of all ur files. if u already going to reformat ur computer, don't forget to make a backup of the whole computer after u finish (as if someday ur computer will go down, u will be able to run the backup, and not to download/install all the stuff again), i am using Norton Ghost atm, but since it wont work on any other then 16bit FAT format, u can use Norton Save and Restore (which is the new edition of the same program).

i don't think it worth it, to buy extra parts to old computer, i think that overtime its more cheap to just buy new computer. btw, if u wanna buy new RAM, try to get the same RAM u got now, or it might cause problems.
if u want speed, there are plenty of stuff u can do, there is sticky thread if i am not mistaken about speeding ur computer here, and u can always install windows that require less CPU.

first, backup ur files should be done without any connection to reformatting ur computer. u should backup any file that u cannot download from the internet, every file that u don't know exactly where to download, and files u don't have power to search for them.

about installing:
http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/clean1.html

also read:
http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3437080

and it should look like (never tried it before):

ah thanks mate, will this os be the same as windows, but like, faster or better performance?

edit : i have a built in recovery cd thingy, which restores and deletes everythink of my comp to the original state which i brough it in, if i install this OS will it remove that?

thanks

if u install new os, and u choose the option to reformat ur computer to decide how many drives u will have, and how big will they be, everything will be deleted, and since u need a full reformat, u need to do it.
backup ur files using hardware (burn cd with burner, take files on USB memory stick ect), then when u install the OS, make a drive just for backup, finish install everything u want, then use the program to make full backup of c. then if u ever need to reformat ur computer again, just use the program to put the state it was after u finished reformatting, should do the work.

about the windows, it wont be exactly the same windows, there will be less functions and programs at some places, but i doubt u need those functions and programs anyway, and if u need program, u can just install it. the windows will have only what u need, therefore it wont waste CPU on stuff that u don't need, so ye, it will be faster.

Installing that edition of windows will be even more problematic for you lol.

Seriously. Get a normal copy of windows, and then follow guides on speeding up XP and disable only the stuff you KNOW you don't need and will not use.

Those are high end CUSTOM installs

If you dont know what they are or what they do you SHOULD NOT be installing them

AS has been said install a NORMAL copy of windows XP and tweak it to make it run faster (There is a sticky guide in this forum)

If your system is running XP slow then you system is prob not built for XP
Install Win2kpro and you system will run fine

mythonline - The low resource usage comes from cutting functionality of the system. A person who is not good with computers is DEFINATELY going to run into problems with programs not working and such. Therefore it isn't wise to suggest installing a system that has the bare minimum it needs to function.

well i suppose i did mixed my will in making the computer the best it can be somewhere here, even if it will turn to problems later on ^^, so i suppose ur right on this, so hellcaster, u should probably listen to him on the windows thing, install regular windows and configure it by ur own by the guide here.
and about downloading going slow, it probably has nothing to do with ur computer, just the server ur downloading from.
