Hi, if anyone can help me i would be entirely greatful, basically im trying to completely wipe my computer - factory settings. Ive tried command promts which havn't worked and ive put my Operating System disc in and rebooted but nothing has happened, im not great with computers so im slowly getting to the point where throwing it out of the window is more appealing. Im running windows vista business, if you need anymore info just say, Thanks.

Tried doing it using the Advanced Boot Menu (F8 on load up) and going to Repair System which is meant to show more options or something but it just loads up my pc normally.

Basically i tried what Zen said, booted for disc and installed it again which is meant to give you a fresh OS and the old files will be in a folder called OldWindows or something... Once the new vista finished installing it went to a black screen for about 2hours so i rebooted and now it wont get past the "loading screen" Its told me to put in OS disc and reboot which is meant to give option to repair but it doesn't. Can anyone help me or should i be looking to computer shops?

Thanks /TOM

(back up all drives and all data you wish to keep best bet to place on a flash drive or a disk)
you will have to format the hard drive and delete the partition and create a new 1 then it should install fine.
set up your disk drive as your primary boot device and insert the disk then reset the computer. fallow directions on screen.

this is if you have a installation cd not just a bk up /recovery cd
if you delete all of your hard drive and only have the recovery cd there is a chance you wont get it bk so check your vista/xp disk is a installation one or download and burn a boot up disk (iso)

Or you could try Search on Google that will prob give you step by step... or you could pay out ur ass for some one to rip you off for a simple installation.

if you do have just a recovery disk and its not working you are not fallowing instructions correct or you have a problem withing the system.

Video cant get much easier <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Lol when you get to the partition manager in the installation files you need to delete the main partition and install it fresh obviously you would have backed anything you wanted to keep onto disc ect, Restart your install how i said just delete the main partition there may be a small partiton about 8gb on there leave that alone as thats basicly your boot disc to install windows.

Always go for a fresh/wiped partiton otherwise i think it keeps all your old corrupt registry files, Meaning your pc wont really run much better than it did before installing it over the top of the old one ¬_¬

You could press F11 and on the install screen theres a *Fix windows startup* that may fix your current problem with only bein able to get to the login screen. However i woudl still re do it fresh!

Good luck i just typed an essay ¬_¬
