lol, i would if i din't out right own my house as it is.

And by the way the only thing i mentioned about buying was a new Hdd, IF everything else failed - seeing as boot failure can also be down to hdd problems and not just the partition. But as you may have also noticed, ive added other sugestions with regards to it not booting. But you just seem to be on a bit of a "lets see if we can pull dreamscape to bits" vendeta.

Not going to work how ever, as i know what im talking about and what im doing.

@Janae I've had similar troubles before, thats why its always best to virus scan the software before you initiate it and also a good program to use especially if you dont want all the crap that is acosiated with xp. Then use Nlite to create your own build of OS.

stop spouting crap out your arse its getting boring now.

Nope, bought the house when i was 18. Finished paying for it last year, so paid for it in less than 10 years. Its 4 bedrooms, with an exstension built on the side so makes it 5bedrooms. Though that is just primarly used as my office.

Oh and have you never thought i may have had a nice fat inheratance....

And it would seem that somone IE you, doesn't seem to know what he's talking about at all. So go crawl back in ya hole please.

Oh and I own a 98 skyline

im sure you do mate, im sure you do.

so just like you fix 1 computer every 3 minutes

a company gave you finance on 18k a year at 18? lets not forget i doubt any one would hire an 18 year old at 18k a year on 1st line support.

for a 4 bedroom house and a car.

and even if it was an inheritance which i doubt, your just showing what a spoilt little pratt you are.

the fact that your posting all this proves your not telling the truth. Who are you trying to convince? me or yourself.

Bon should be the only one that can prove who's right or wrong.

Any possible solution remains valid until Bon has solved the problem.

ok you all got this wrong here is what happens

when you put the XP disk into you pc when you already have xp installed and running and then ask it to reintall xp through that crap menu that xp's install auto run program

it copys files needed onto you Harddrive

so when you Format it you delete them and they can no longer be used by the pc

here is your fix

start the pc cold boot it this means boot the pc from off not restart.

press pause break its on the keyboard at the top around near the delete key is

this will stop the pc from loading giving you time to put your cd in.

then press pausebreak again this will load up then make sure its set to boot from cd,

then go through the install prosess.

if this dont work it sounds like your XP cd is too scratched to be read.

Or if you have done as some of the people have said and i dont reccomend you doing so

re check the cables again to make sure there all in properly

hope this helps

i need a job in pc repair :D gimme gimme gimme

When uve done the first part of the instalation have you left the disk in or taken it out???

It's fine to be left in, as the message that appears after the first reboot is "Press any key to boot from CD". After that, it continues with the BIOS defined boot sequence

Point im getting at is that if the disk itself is corrupt and its removed from the drive before instalation starts correctly, it can say non system disk.

Im just going right back to the begining and ruleing everything out.

well got new CDs 2day, dled the file and burnt 2 CD

put it in run it etc... it came up with loads of stuff then at end says

starts off with

Starting Caldera DR DOS...

then goes on to say found USB ports etc... then finally stops at...

[DR-DOS] A:\>

and then u can type stuff.... dunno wot 2 do lol... on the website i dled the thing from ( http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp?cxml=n&pid=999&swid=30 ) it says should be options? so im lost =/

edit: found a file says some sh it on it ...

TO RUN THE PROGRAM:

BACK UP DATA:
Before running DLGDIAG, it is recommended that users back up all data
for all hard drives. This utility may write to the drive during the
re-certification process. As with all utilities that write to a drive,
it is recommended that you back up your data before proceeding.

STORE THE PROGRAM ON FLOPPY DRIVE:
The program must be run from a floppy drive, so if downloaded, copy all
files included in the zip to a formatted bootable floppy diskette in A:.
All files must be included for the program to function properly. Running
this program from the target hard drive while using certain operating
systems can result in data loss and an inaccurate scan of the target
drive.

START THE PROGRAM: To start the program, type DLGDIAG at the
A:\ DOS prompt.

READ AND APPROVE LICENSE AGREEMENT:
In order for the DLGDIAG program to run, the License Agreement must
be agreed to by indicating "YES".

so basically A:\ means floppy drive... so i got wrong file as this is for a floppy drive ... but i dled for dos (CD) :/

guess i gotta go get some floppy disks -.-

maybe the startup got interrupted. (it doesn't need to load usb drivers anyway)

note: booting from CD will make CD the A drive

type DLGDIAG there...
A:\> DLGDIAG
the program should start...

tried like 5 times now.... press F8 choose boot from CD... and it does all loads of msg crap about USB and drivers found etc... then when A:\> comes up i type in DLGDIAG and it comes up with:

command or file name not reconized

dont see wot im doin wrong lol =/

wonderin if i burnt the CD right.. used nero startsmart and chose "make bootable CD" as option.. which is pretty obvious so i dont think i did that wrong, but dont understand why it didnt work ><

might cry

is the ISO you are burning called
Diag504cCD.iso? (2172KB)
cuz this CD shouldn't load all those drivers.

When you see "Caldera DR-DOS 7.05"
quickly press F5

if you see "No command interpreter specified." just type command.com<enter>

A> COMMAND.COM

A:\> DIR

you should see around 7 files... one of them called DLGDIAG5 EXE 223,180
so type dlgdiag5<enter>

A:\> DLGDIAG5

Let me know what you see...
