Sir Auron whats ANSI C and is it any good =/? Or am I doing the wrong thing

=/ I bought a book called "The C [ANSI] Programing Language" by Brian W Kerninghan and I dont think its what I wanted (or expected, but I'm new to C language) I'm probably learning a crap language o.O

Also wtf dont they use one language lolz -_- C# C ANSI C++ VC++ VB .NET geez o.O (Pascal, Delphi etc etc)

Languages have their uses for different platforms and speeds.. some programs are better suited for other languages. Visual Basic and C# are designed for easy fast development of simple applications.. while a number of the others have their reasons for use too. (no doubt Auron will disagree as he likes C# and VB.NET, but we respect each others opinions).

I like VB.NET, although, I'm too poor to buy it and it's hard to come-by a working illegal copy. At the moment, I use VB 6 Enterprise Enviroment. It's catered for all my client side needs so far.

But I want .NET! Any sugguestions that wont cost me money?
