Well, i just formatted my laptop. Now i cant use it or do anything with it. the HDD is blank, which is wat i wanted but wat i didnt want is the problem i have now. When i put my reboot disc in to reinstall windows etc, its doenst let me. this box cums up asking for a serial number, if i leave it blank something cums up asking to insert disc in d drive which i hav alrdy dun, it keeps saying this and will not work. And if i put a serial code in (the serial tht came up on screen wen i formatted the drive) it just says *this computer is blank and has nothing on it or something so basically, i cant install windows!! i think the format prograM i used was a windows 98 one, but i used it on my pc and could install windows fine and it all worked perfect. But it wont on laptop my laptop is same windows as my pc, windows XP home edition. Please help, i ned my laptop workin

It may help if you provide more informaition about the messages displayed on screen, and what you were doing to get them. Preferably a word to word copy.

The serial that came up when you formatted the drive is the DRIVE SERIAL.

You want the OPERATING SYsTEM SERIAL.

Two very, VERY different things :P

You should have a sticker on the bottom of your laptop, take the code from that.

Otherwise, go buy your operating system.

hmm, its ok, i gonna take it down computer shop and get them to reinstall windows xp for me thnx for replys you two
