at times the game plays fine and at others i just lag out continously so cant play.
I didn't used to have this problem until virgin sold my internet account to the dreaded talk talk. they are giving me 2.5mb/s connection and 119ms ping. my neighbour has 8mb and 16ms ping so i use the neighbours net. they are also on crappy talk talk for the same reason

I was an acceptable speed when virgin were supplying the house so i suspect there is nothing i can do as it's just talk talk and i know my system can play mir2 without lag.
i have tried dns flush and resetting router. i use smart close and fraps shows 60fps even when im lagged and frozen on spell cast animation (alt+q reduces game to 20fps).

i move home in 20 days and will get proper internet but until then any advice on how i can get a more stable connection

edit: tried wtfast but i just keep getting dc'd from the game
i have also disabled firewall but this doesnt help

edit2:
i have 10mb/s and 59ms ping on 3g phone and with that as my modem still unplayable
liek euro 1-2step lag

Was in a similar boat myself mate. But my drop in speed wasn't as dramatic as yours.

At this stage, what I'd probably do is ring them up and kick off. Even after we got forced into joining TalkTalk, we called virgin and explained that the speed had dropped. I assumed they passed that information over to TalkTalk and the speeds that we got after that were passable. Also, shortly after we decided to switch to BT infinity, and believe it or not, virgin actually handled the cross over to BT Aswell.

Long story short, I'd give virgin a call and Explain the situation. There customer service in my experience has been top notch. You at the very least want to know why it is all of a sudden a problem, when next doors is fine.

3G will always be a bit hit and miss because the connection from what I've been told is fairly weak? Don't quote me on that though.

Hope you get it sorted!

3G isn't for gaming. Anything can effect it. Weather etc.

why did virgin sell your account to talk talk? Never heard of that before. Just curious.

I'm fairly certain they want to just focus on the cable services bundles. I know in my area, you can't get cable so maybe they're just ditching all the lines that they can't upsell?

try resetting your moden/ router each week and see if it's better if this doesnt fix it then your cable from there to your house is trash

this isnt reccomeneded as your isp will see it as a unstable connections and will reduce your speed

Do you have a wired or wireless connection to your neighbors router?
