Job seekers allowance shouldnt be there at all. We are in a cycle of dependancy, and as government "anti-poverty" spending goes up, so does unemployment and poverty itself. Getting rid of it, along with many other tax-funded things, would free up a **** load of money in the private sector, going toward creating new jobs and increasing charity donations, which could go toward those who are genuinely seeking jobs. Two-thirds of a dollar are spent to collect one dollars of taxes (i dont know what it is here, but i assume it's similar), so if charities recieved just a 10th of what we pay the government anyway, the poor would still be better off. And keep in mind that we'd be paying out to fewer people.
Private charities are better anyway.
