Any Mead makers in the house?

Looking to try it. Found a starter kit for £36 including 3lb of honey which isn't bad at all but they are buckets with no tap

I used to make mead some years ago but I didn't use any of those kits they sell.

You only need a 5L water bottle, water, honey, yeast and a balloon.

Remember my mum doing the same, huge thick glass jars that were under the stairs, haha

The buckets are ' fermentation vessels ' needed to keep the honey liquor from contamination while the honey/sugar is converted to alcohol by yeast .
When yeast has done its job ( about a week @20 degrees ) syphon off the mead into very clean bottles cap/cork and store for 3 months.
Sounds simple ?
In a way it is, as long as you know that EVERYTHING has to be surgically clean. Contamination will result in alcohol being turned into vinegar.
Honey is at least £5 a jar expencive, sugest to try a beer kit first to get the idea . @Slipmatt has right place to start.

Fill a bath up with hot water and throw some potatoes in there 😂
