you mean the ones which just email everyone in your address book?

you usually get them by clicking a link someone sends you via msn messenger, which is actually not them, but the virus.

i think you can also get it by signing up to somewhere dodge.

maybe they just guessed your email? there are programs which will email every reasonably common email, and if it sees that its been read / replied to it confirms this email is valid and will send more.

They use a bot program that randomly searchs for active email address using MMX records to confirm them, once thats done the email address is then spoofed, 9/10 times its not actually your email address and if you get the emails through a client such as outlook, you can see where the email has been spoofed from.

I just logged in to it (it's the email I use for xbox live) and it said "your account has been temporarily blocked due to spam messages being sent" or something along those lines so I had to reset my password and stuff ¬_¬

i hate having to reset my passwords. i only use two passwords, one for places i trust, one for those i dont. probably not the safest and secure method, but it means i always remember my password.

however, i have put double security on my google account, where it emails me a second random code to my phone if i try to log in with a new computer. most of my secure emails go to google so needed that one more secure. wish live.com did that too.

When I was trying to log in to hotmail I was getting that unsecure certificate message, which says something about your information being possible viewably to third parties, I reckon that has had something to do with it. wtf is that about piece of ****

your security lapse has prompted me to update my passwords. gmail and live are my main ones, don't really care if anything else gets hacked in to. youtube is linked to google, and so is facebook.

Used this site to get my new password

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/passwords-create.aspx

makes it really easy to make a random password you can remember, however even though its jiberish (IGjdKs53sH) it still only gives me a medium password.
