i know its important to get this sorted but how long can it possibly take to change a few passwords of your own and send the rest to peoples emails?

Let me put it this way, if you don't lock the door whats to stop the person doing it again?
do we have an ETA? just so some of us can arrange to see friends etc or stay in and wait for the server to come up? it is Friday night
Who would pick staying in and waiting for a server over going out and actually doing something....
yea well I have a life and tonight I chose to stay in and play the new game I been playing instead of going out n seeing friends but unfortunately its not online atm so I just asked a simple question of do you have an ETA so we can plan our evening. corrrr some people
what even happened to the server only just got in from work ?

He was up all night trying to sort it and up all day at his rl job. I wouldn't blame him if he is getting some sleep. Get a life, whats the worst that can happen if you miss a night of playing..
I don't care if its down all weekend so long as its all sorted properly without him killing himself thru sleep deprivation
I don't think people realise the severity of the situation here. Nobody knows how much damage has been done. Passwords is the obvious thing that jumps to mind but he'll have to check for in game commands, secret doors, a very specific mob adjustment, NPC scripts etc. These are just things from the top of my head btu I think we're going to be waiting a good few days. Maybe longer.

Chronicles server is rented so security to the actual dedi should be sound, you would need this accsess to change npc scripts, game commands ect
My guess is and purely a guess it is but chronicles was running out of date modules on their dedi ssl being one of them this linked with the fact the website was php coded to link username database for ranking and emails passwords for there reset feature. Im sure these are the vore of the attack I know from knowledgable reading that sql injection is quite common and dropping a database is like dropping your pant when the buttons open.
Hope Sam sorts this my advice would.be to drop the http services move pass reset back to ingame leaving alot of time to tweak the php

Forgive me if this is a really dumb thing to say, as i know nothing about server files / how to run a server.. But could you not rewind a day? Just to stop all of the above things?
Surprised you're not paying irl cash for this sort of information, as it seems this is your forté.
If someone broke into your house, could you just rewind time for 24hours? No. Not so simple.
