right now my rig is quite low-med.

I have
1 gig of ram
AMD Sempron 3400 + (socket 754)
Radeon X1950 PRO 256mb pci-e

Apparently my cpu is so crap that my graphics card isnt even half as good as it should be .

I dont have much money as im only 15 although im planning on buying a new motherboard (socket AM2) and buying a new cpu;
AMD X2 Dual Core AM2 Athlon 64 4000 2.0GHz 2x512k Socket AM2

a dual core processor , i tried the pc demo of Bioshock and i seem to get bad fps(at the graphics i wish , which is medium) , but i dont think this is my card its my processor struggling to send data to my card.On some parts the speaking in out of sync with the characters mouths moving , is this due to my processor not being quick enough to send the data to my card? . If so , if i bought this new cpu would i gain a huge improvement in my gaming as im hoping to play ut3 / crysis / spore and bioshock on my pc.

Please help me!

Also :

Intel Way :

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?IL-E2140 - intel cpu (im not sure if that fits in normal computers?)

AMD Way :

save your money for a while. that intel cpu is low performance, you get that only medium priced laptops, and wont cope with the new games that well.

ive got a 3.2 p4. and that copes with all the games iv chucked at it so far (but it is starting to jutter on the brand new games.

dont really know where i was going with this post. but id save up your money and get a top performance proc instead of getting a medium one now.

Cpu had a big impact on fps for me, went from a intel pentium 4 2.6ghz to a core 2 duo 6420 then when i plyed quake 3 the fps was reaching over 500 when it used to only be about 120, i have to limit it to like 300 to play on the net or i get spammed by errors and disconected lol

AMD's dual cores pretty good too, my dads got the 5200 one i think and his games hardly stutter unless hes on cossaks and has like 15k soldiers per player and 8 players Oo

Cheers this helped a lot , ive decided to buy a AMD 4200+ dual core , i really hope to play bioshock smoothly , what i don't understand it a xbox 360s graphics card is about the same as a radeonx1950 pro yet it performs so well , im guessing its the cpu and optimization.

Do you know any sites which show a AMD Athlon 64 4200 2.2GHz dual core game performance ? i found a few but there like doom 3 , i wanna see games like bioshock and rainbow 6 vegas .

I would've definitely gone Intel way. Probably won't play Bioshock but we'll see.

Xbox360 doesn't have to run an OS and other background programs.

Graphics on xbox 360

Custom ATI Graphics Processor

* 500 MHz
* 10 MB embedded DRAM
* 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically-scheduled shader pipelines
* Unified shader architecture

off the official site.
BTW do i have a 360 just i prefer pc , and i only play it for gears which is coming 2 pc soon yay!.

My card.

Chipset ATI Radeon X1950 PRO
Memory Clock Speed 1.38GHz
Video Memory Installed 256MB DDR3
Memory Interface 256-bit
RAMDAC 400MHz
Core Clock Speed 575MHz
Pixel PipeLines 36
Crossfire Crossfire2 READY (Internal Crossfire Connection) - Just buy another X1950 Pro for Crossfire
Features Shader Model 3.0, Vertex and Pixel Shader Version 3.0,AVIVO Technology - H.264 Support

I believe its optimization on games and on certain hardware , not its power , if your making a game on the 360 your forced to optimize it on the consoles hardware and its easy , on the pc u gotta optimize it for every single piece of hardware.

On Gamespot someone is playing Bioshock with a Radeon X1950 pro , 1 gig of ram and a AMD 4200 + dual core , and getting 46 fps average , on max , 1024x768 , sounds nice to me.
But tbh i cant rely on one statement , i need some kinda of evidence which is what im asking :-/. Also fear on tht site you gave me ¤]´)÷¤--§îr Äürøñ--¤÷(`[¤ max settings 1280x768 51fps on average is sweet since fear has soft shadows as well as volumetric shadows, i am sure if i turn down some of the setting in next gen graphical games ill play just fine , from evidence that is.

I will prob but a 8800 GTX anyway for christmas.
