QUOTE from terms and conditions above
Ownership/Selling of the account or Virtual Items:
The Chronicles team will not recognize and/or police the sale/transfer of Chronicles accounts and/or content found in the game, if you are to do so, you do it at your own risk and the Chronicles team will not get involved in any foul play with regards to these transfers. END QUOTE

Seems this means that gold buying is OK and not bannable. Buying levelled chars and items with your credit card is just fine.
There is no come back if you get conned is what that sentence means. (I hope you do get conned. But seeing as the traders been at it for years and have built up their client base I doubt it.)
Maybe it cannot be policed. It can be discouraged though. Would it be worth the risk if there was even a hint of a ban? Jumping on it at the start might help. I realise you have a lot to do and sorting out people who play for profit not fun isnt really what you enjoy. Coding is your fascination.
Still its a nice server and ty for all the hours of work. Server is great and you all obviously care about it.
But I am off.

This is dreadful. Where has the passion for the game gone? How can people just buy chars and items I dont understand at all.

Anyway, buying high level warrior, willing to pay good $$$, PM me.

I hate to say this, but there's been an abundance of Chronicle team members replying to at least 3-4 days worth of threads.. They're looking, sure... but do they care?

Probably not.

They care about coding. So exploits and cheats are fun to work on. Tracking people buying stuff is probably boring.
But its all right it means you can PK them cos they are no good and get their items(lol) Good luck with pk for skill books and good luck with pking chars who been bike levelled or paid someone to level them.
and
why is a high level hanging round in oma cave late at night? A little bit of exp per hour is better than no exp while you sleep? Don't even have to bot with a bag full and autopot. Go pk them because fighting them levels higher than you wont be fun.

How can you even think that policing this is even possible anyway?

They're stating it because it's simply impossible. Just like any big MMO companies can't either. End of the day, all the items/levels and gold is legit made from the game and drops that the Chronicles team themselves have made.

If you find someone stupid enough to use their real money to purchase something easily obtainable themselves, then who cares really?

If you get ****ed over doing it? It's your own fault...Don't expect any help if it happens

Sonic has hit the nail on the head with this one, if you can think of a way to make this possible, then pm me, we will patent the idea and then rent it out to all the major mmo providers out there.

I also have the belief (and most will likely disagree), that if you have put the hours in, regardless of whether or not it was hours spent mining, hunting, gathering, levelling; if you have put the work in and you feel like you want to sell your hard work, who am I to stop you?

Does this leave you in a position where you might be conned? Yes, and this is why we have a terms of use that says "do it at your own risk and the Chronicles team will not get involved in any foul play with regards to these transfers.".

I recognise there has always been an issue with bots/farming in Mir and we are actively pursuing all routes/reports, so keep them coming even if they are dead ends.

Also if you police this the U/C will drop quite a bit, fact. With the ethics of the server it is probably necessary

Thanks for reply.
If u discover someone who has bought for irl cash? or sold for irl cash(sometimes that is glaringly obvious) it would be good to know that the sold char will be deleted, the gold removed or whatever. Discourage ppl now.
I understand you cannot actively police this but when u do see it clearly will there be any action?
I see yr point about putting in the hours and selling the fruits of you time.
There's a difference between supplement ing yr dole money and server wide faming.
I also think that players who "buy" advantages are only a step above cheat users.

If the Items/Gold were gained legitimately through gameplay... Why on earth would you care who has it or not?

Legitimately?

What if the gold someone bought was bot farmed? Which then meant they could out bid other players for the best skills/items?
Eternal just removed gameshop because selling gameshop items created an unbalance. Talk to him about it. he actually has the experience.

I don't understand what you're getting bent out of shape about?

I haven't seen any "bot farmers" running around, have you? Just concentrated money farmers which are quite high level...really think they'd bot on a main? Lol nope!

Even if they did exist....the amount of gold obtainable in an hour would make things quite expensive, you'd have to spend a lot to gain enough to "out bid" players.

Lastly...it will be a LONG time before you can "out bid" anybody....really think Apex etc are going to give up skills/items that are barely in the game yet? Lol!!! Of course not! People will hold the advantage as long as possible before selling off anything

Oh and....if you like Eternal....Go play it? :/

Iv never understood real cash buyers myself and i do feel somewhat aggrieved if they beat me in pvp with stuff they didnt "earn" but iv never been able to argue that if they are working 40 hours a week and someone else plays mir for those 40hrs.. why not buy yourself equal. I wouldnt as id prefer pay for beer but i cant argue the point.
yes maybe they should play something else if they dont like the grind of mir but again their choice.

I also dont like the term "donate" when your clearly only buying stuff for your own benefit. to donate is to gift something to purchase is to get something in return but ah well ;)

I've been playing the server 2 days and have already bumped into a couple of leveling bots. Level 35+ warrior botting in BDD. We smashed him abit and he just stood there hitting the mob with no reaction to us, obviously until he hit a certain percentage of HP then teleported off.

Fact is though these things are going to happen. Its best just to ignore it and get on with the game rather than letting it bother you.

People are really deluded if they have decent kit and think they "earnt" it.

This is a MMORPG, the WHOLE drop system is based on LUCK! and CHANCE

Let me give you an example, i played euro Mir for 5 years, my best item was a DRing, i am not even going to begin to count the amount of people that played for 2 weeks and got Mirrong/Flamefiled/Holydeva of a GK/GiantWorm in BC, or something else stupidly rare, and they were instantly catapulted way ahead of me in terms of Gear and wealth.

You do not "Earn" anything, Nothing is earned, the term does not exist in the context of gear/kit on an MMORPG, the only thing you can "Earn" theoretically is levels t and the server team is not selling levels, so the ebayers will have to "earn" their levels the exact same as you.

Hmm i see what your saying but you cant get a drop from a boss if you have not killed it. So you "earn" a roll of the dice for a drop based from your luck and chance.
If i get a dss from my 3rd or 400th EC kill id say i earned that gear. By putting in the effort to try and find it.
Yes theres masses of luck and chance but compare someone who killed 1 EC and got a mace to someone who bought it for RL cash. Id say player 1 earned it player 2 didnt.
Its just a perspective i appreciate but without that feeling of earning and achieving theres not much else ingame for me. So ill stick with knowing i earned my kit through method of grind.

Personally i think it should be encouraged and properly policed with the server team taking a 10% commission on all sales.

It will happen wither people want it to or not. What nightscare has suggested isn't actually a bad idea.
