Reputation, like respect, must be earned. It is also a lot easier to lose than it is to earn, and almost impossible to regain.
Onto this issue of virus/Slice™ wanting to become a GM. True, without any form of reputation the respect due to a GM would not be there (not that GM's get much respect). Can you blame him for asking though? Maybe he's not quite as literate as a lot of other people, does that mean he's any less of a person? Maybe he's had some bad experience with GM's in the past and wishes to rectify this by being a "non-corrupt" GM.
Although, remember the old saying "Power Corrupts, Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely".
Now, onto the virus/Slice™ being flamed for his request. I say YES, flame him. It will be good experience for if he does become a GM. "The stress and grief you recieve as a GM makes the game unplayable", some would say. As a GM you are monitoring the game, and not actively playing anyway.
If virus/Slice™ can handle flames and retorts to his post in an effective, calm and mature manner, then yes. Maybe one day he will become a GM.
Finally, if you wish to discredit someone for their grammer/punctuation and/or their ability to spell correctly, regardless of Dyslexia, doesn't this count as an attack on the person directly? You wouldn't give people grief for being African or Asian, yet you will if they cannot read or write to a degree that you find acceptable. I call you hypocrites for doing so.
Yes, I can read and write. Yes, my grammer and punctuation are above the average computer users. Does this make me better than anyone else? NO!!
Flame him for asking to be a GM all you want, but please, do not post messages that are targeted specifically at another persons disability. In the Real World (aka, away from your computer and mir) if you did this, you could find yourself in a civil if not criminal lawsuit for Discrimination.
Me for GM? No thank you. I don't mind moderating, but I'll be damned if I'll ever GM again. Too much grief and very little reward. Not even a thank you half the time.
Virus / Slice™ whichever you wish to be called. Good luck in your quest to become a GM, but believe me. It IS a thankless task and unless you wish to become GM for nefarious (it means dodgy) reasons, you will not enjoy it and may even lose all interest in the game itself.
