Would there be a way to put the option of disabling animations ingame in the f12 choices? Whenever a lot is going on my fps drops to 6-10 and im totally useless lol This could possibly help? Im pretty sure iv'e seen this on other servers back in the day

It will be to do with your location being in the U.S.

It's really difficult for mir to strain anything hardware wise.

sigh no offence but can ppl plz stop blaming everything on connections?
first off: he clearly states his fps drops to 6-10 < this instantly identifys his problem to be either his pc not handling it, or the client giving alot of background errors that make it go mental
second: no amount of connection lag is ever gonna touch your fps on a mir engine. ppl need to stop confusing connection lag with what the game feels like.

this client isnt really as optimised as original mir clients
also: there's been a ton of other mir servers with various problems related to hardware 'strain'
examples: servers disabling FWall on maps cause it causes to much lag to pvp (think sw palace), players disabling sound cause it causes to much lag, a few other minor stuff but well the end result = mir has never been great at dealing with the full potential of your hardware past the pentium 1 era, and this client is about 100times less optimised then the original so :p

That's what I have been saying to people from the day I started playing but not 1 person agree with me lol

dont worry mate, I think the same thing. The only way I can play on my laptop without immense lag, is to run the game from a USB stick, or USB hard drive lol. Hows that for optimized :P

I don't see how that would make any difference ;p

my connection is fine, its the graphics card on my laptop that cant handle it. so if there are less graphics in the game, (a way to turn them off) i think that would help a lot

i dont understand why there isnt the option to turn skill animations off in this game, thats another thing i have seen on all servers ive played. only ever used it by accident though lol

This is what kind of contradicts td's earlier comments on the client not being as optimised as other clients... The option isn't there as it doesn't cause any more of a hit to fps than anything else on your screen (a single player on your screen would in fact potentially cause up to 4x more hit to your fps than that of a skill)... It was originally put it for other versions of mir because it wouldn't matter the spec of your pc you would still experience some sort of graphical lag in certain areas whilst using certain skills...

This all goes back to if 99% of people can run the client fine with absolutely no issues, then there is a problem with the 1% of peoples environment... And I doubt very much it is a hardware issue... So far most of the issues have been down to silly reasons, like not having up to date graphics drivers etc, which you would need to play any modern game.

I am more than happy to help people try and find the root of their lag, but the first thing they need to except is if this is happening all the time to you then its probably not the client and you will need to except that there could potentially be an issue with your environment.

I'm assuming with this build, that you'll also get the 'lag' if 200 Yobs are spawned on your screen, each of which have large square drops.

I totally understand what you're saying, but what happens when we've exhausted every option, and still the issues persist? Will you potentially look at the possibility that your client isn't necessarily optimized for all hardware configurations?
In my case, for example, I always ensure that my system is clean and that all my drivers are up to date. I've tried 2 fresh windows installs (1 32bit and 1 64bit) both with all the latest drivers for everything in the system, and yet I still experience constant 3 second freezes, or "lag"
The only way for me to eliminate this "lag" is to run the game from an external USB hard drive. This leads me to believe the client isn't able to access the internal hard drive properly for some reason.
I do plan to upgrade my internal to an SSD next week, so if you can't address this issue in your client, then hopefully a faster hard drive will help

This is unusual but, and again I am sorry to say it... This sounds like an underlying issue with your hardware that the client has made apparent...

The way the client accesses the images in its child directories shouldn't cause you to lag... The issue might be that your have a corrupt and/or incomplete client installation... Our client attempts to read corrupt/missing images without checking they are there first... Advantage to this is you don't completely lag out or get spammed with warnings... However it could be caught more gracefully then what it is at the moment...

I assume you have 100% downloaded the client again and tried new install?

Actually, no. I have not tried this yet. Truth be told, it never even occurred to me to do so as the game works essentially, but I'll try it now.

There is of course, the off chance, that my hard drive is somewhat faulty. Seems unlikely as it seems to work fine otherwise, but I'll know for sure next week when I get an SSD installed.
