I returned to Chronicles on Thursday afternoon and as I have the luxury of being a student I was able to commit a good portion of hours a day to giving Mir a go again. Don't get me wrong I like the idea behind Chronicles and low/medium rate servers appeal to me personally, more than super high rates.

I found it impossible to really get back into this server and enjoy myself due to the barrier in place to new players. The noob guild is empty, any hunting guild wont take you unless you have connections and the only option for leveling under 40 solo is OmaLair - which is great for about an hour and after killing a couple of Warlords. But after that you wonder why you're grinding 0.15% a mob at level 29, to then realise that even hitting level 30 and treating yourself to a JMace will have no bearing at all on the next 10 levels.

I'm not trying to put down this server to say that it is shite, because you guys plainly do a good job, and I understand I missed a Christmas event recently. However I just feel that for a new solo player it is very difficult to get into the server and play casually with any vision of hitting level 40 and getting a half decent kit.

Maybe this is an issue you will look at and address, maybe it isn't. Just thought I would throw in my opinion.

Low level caves under level 38 have exp boosts for new players. There is also the quest system, other caves like numa and minos etc OmaLair is not really a cave designed for leveling.
The noob guild, alot of new players leave and join other guilds. There are a few posts from players on the forum that have offered to take players leveling.

You started playing 3 days ago :P get talking to people, do some quests, post on the forum (I am sure someone will see this and help you level)

There are plans to add new stuff for solo players but mir really is a social game and is not really designed to be played solo

The plans to add new content really is aimed at 40+ also as there is already a massive amount of 0-40 content.

AncientForest
AntCave
BichonDeadMine
BlackDragonDungeon
BugCave
FrozenTemple
InsectCave
LostShip
MineralMine
OmaCave
PastBichon
PrajnaStoneCave
PrajnaTemple
SpiderCave
StoneTemple
WoomaTemple
ZumaTemple
OmaLair
NumaDessert

These are all places that can quiet easily be soloed (whether that is 1v1 or in the masses) under level 40.

You can hunt with me, I started an alt recently about 3 - 4 days ago and have got to near 40. The grind is boring in OmaLair but the best place, Numa is also good but slightly hard - better in a group but I agree there isn't many ways to group hunt unless you got connections, didn't really want guild from my main getting involved with my new character, tried to speak to some other low levels but most aren't interested - either language barrier, don't have much time, joined the server with a friend or prefer to solo.

I would like to reinforce my point on having a craftable items for the xmas tree slot for all levels being made available so new players can benefit from a little (even if its DC/MC/SC 0-1 for crafting a little item).

Also add agil + 1 on NephriteBoots(H) while you remember!!!

Maybe its time to change the start lvl, 30 or even 40 theres still a lot of work from there to "catch up" in terms of grind and items, anyone with a toon already in play below that could also get the boost.
If you add a sub to each of the low lvl areas with the chance of a reasonable drop then they wont become totally redundant :)

Sam and BH I appreciate your replies and I did half expect you to say exactly what you have said, I don't blame you for doing so. However I hope you can overlook the apparent complaint about the server you have created because I am not trying to aggravate you or slate the server, I'm only trying to feedback and help you.

All in all you told me to make friends, do quests and linked me a bunch of caves, which is great. However, the caves you linked - Numa for example, is not a place that can be hunted solo pre level 40 with any worthwhile gain when considering your opportunity cost of actually hunting there. The XP boost is great x3 helps but really the leveling is still very slow. The caves you mentioned are very hard to hunt without the kind of kit that you're only going to be able to acquire with the aid of higher level players. The opportunity to gain that kit isn't too hard without help but the cost of items that are necessary is still very high.

Questing is very tedious. At the start of the server the quests were fine, the time taken to complete them was fine and the rewards were also seemingly in line with the state of the server at the time. However times changed and evidently the low level quests have not. I am not expecting you to read this and plan an overhaul of 0-40 because like you said, most users are over that level and there is already tonnes of content. However I do not think that you are going to get any new users that do not know people already on the server to stick it out until level 35-40 with the current way leveling 0-40 and content 0-40 is set up.

I'm not going to tell you how to run you server because plainly you are doing well enough, but if it was up to me; I would go Pro69 on 0-40 and introduce a start level of 33 with a basic kit, revamp some of the caves such as BugCave and ST so that leveling 33-40 is swift but not free.

@BH "mir really is a social game and is not really designed to be played solo" I wish Mir was still as social as it once was. Mir 3 USA was the best game I've played and it was because hunting in a group of 6+ was rewarded and a common occurrence, clearing out WD and Ice map was the greatest. Sadly the fact is Mir is played solo far more and servers should try and adapt to that, or completely embrace group hunting by creating content that enforces it and rewards it. Now I can't say I have played long enough or to end game content so you may well be doing, but it seems that you are somewhere in the middle.

Please don't take this for me trashing on your server, but take it constructively.

Tom27- the exp from 0-38 is server standard x3 along with a x.5 low level bonus. so 4.5x basic.

You mention in your first post about getting 0.15% per mob and considering that to be slow, thats actually a very nice number to see. It gets a whole lot slower than that bud :/

My advice if you intend on solo play.
Stay in oma lair, grind that 0.15 per mob.
Dont buy a jmace, the speed 2 on a dsword is far greater.
At 32 with TDB you will notice a considerable difference.
Go full dc. You can buy power rings, greenbead, knight bracers very cheap. Maybe 1 (swift)gale ring. All cheap.

In terms of guilds lookout for blackwidows as a starting point.

Remember that you can make your own top end items from gems.
I collect all the materials myself and have made many nice items without spending a penny on the trust merchant.

Crafting gems -
plat ore 12+ gained from mining in mineral mines, searching in dirt piles in MM, also ghouls in dead mine and khazard in insect cave can drop.
Runes - from wooma guardians/ghouls. Many others drop them but these two are easy to find and kill.
Adamantine ore - to improve success of gem build also comes from muneral mines.

Once dc+is done you need marbles for +acc/aspeed
Easy solo marble hunts are RTZ

Other ways to make cash. BugCave/ST2nd - good for threads, threads make string, string makes sun bundles - they sell for 80-120k
Also ET's can drop smash rings (you will want to keep if you find but itll save you 10m) they also drop OSR's all rare but worth the hunt.

Mir is a grind game, but all the tools to make the kit are available to all.
If you want a hand getting to 33 pm me you ing and ill pm you tomorrow evening.

Shout in town for levelling groups or leveling partner. Happens less this server but it still happens. Make a levelling group rather than ask to be levelled but sometimes that works. There are helpful players about.
Main questlines arent that good now for new players but the repeatables are because they help you make gold.

Re-roll a sin if you're solo the majority of time, they level pretty darn quick and are probably the best early/mid game class.

Warriors are dire and really slow without help and a lot of effort put in. Obviously if you put that huge effort in you're rewarded, but with a sin you don't have to put much if any effort in.

Quests have always been rubbish for like level under 20. I remember on the launch of the server a lot of people strayed from the quests and started grinding caves. The only occassion someone would do a quest was if somebody had found a good quest item that they needed (e.g. level 20 weapons) which then people would complete.

I agree koriban, sin is very nice solo. I made 23 to 35 in one day in OmaLair, obviously a lot of grinding and very basic kit. Power Rings were expensive at like 500k a piece. My kit basically 2x DragonRing, 2x DeathGauntlet, 1x ClawNeck. As you hunt in OmaLair you will make a lot of gold, from 23 to 35 I made 2,500,000 gold and then was able to upgrade my kit a little more.

I only started playing this server at the start of December and I rolled a Wizard as I feel they have always been the best for solo leveling. It was relatively easy to level and once you get lightning & Firewall, it's incredibly quick to hit 35+. Money can be made easily in Oma Liar within Gi-Ryoong without the need to TT for pots as the drops there are mainly Gold & HP/MP. Kit is all in the shops, Ruby Rings, Life Neck, MageStaff. The ArmoredAnt pets are great at 34(I think?) and speed up leveling even more.

I boosted a Warrior over the Xmas event and that is definitely a lot slower, especially when you lose the exp boost at 38.
