yep fli is relatively cheap he has the amp 6x9's and subs but he paid like 120 quid for the fli swat 5 head unit and the 6X9's and when the head unit on other sites was valued at 100 mark he had a pretty good deal tbh lol.

lifes for living and if he wants a nice sup'ed up car let it be a corsa or w/e but thats what he wants and he doesnt want to wait 3 yrs to have it fair enuff tbh btw if your parents are nice enough maybe they'll let you on their insurance and maybe you could go for something bigger like a golf vento corrado jetta, jetta/vento was on the fast and the furious it was lightly modified on the outside looking slick, **** knows what he had under the bonnet tho but was an attractive car.

end of the day have what car you like but dont mess with the engine, K&N air filters are a waste of time adding 5bhp and 500 quid to ur insurance price. if your smart you'll take some of the advice from above when your looking for your car.

_________

tinting windows can cost 10quid a window probably cost you £50 for front 2 back 2 and rear window of a corsa.

those are some nice alloys id advise locking nuts for them :P

seat covers for the back seats look in a argos catalouge 30 quid for the 5 seats but and give away the drivers seat covers or w/e, type in sparco bucket seats on ebay or something you'll find something sparco being a top end brand.

______

heres a nice corsa you could commit suicide in btw

good looking small engine
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MODIFIED-VAUX...oryZ9858QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
all the basics bit bigger than the 1.2 smaller than the 2.0
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Modified-Vaux...oryZ9858QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
another 1.4 with all you need
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-VAUXHALL...oryZ9858QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

tbh id rather buy a corsa with everything done to it because their "cheap as chips" (Y)

yeh they may be cheap as chips but they look absolute bollucks take the kit off that black corsa and you've got a nice standard decent car, but the others are beyond help

poor cars..being mistreated like that...
sorry Colonel i don't mean to try and pick faults but you're telling him not to waste money on air filters, but you're telling him to buy seat covers from Argos...

end of the day mate it's up to you, i like to follow the less is better trend, but if you want to drive around in a Corsa looking like that, then that's your decision, it's your personal choice and opinion that matters at the end of the day as long as your happy with it..

as for mechanics, just get a car from 98-00, 1.4 engine at the most.

If you go to that site, you can select, the year, plate, and milage of a car and it will give you an estimate based on that. It lists several pirces, your only intrested in the "private good/average/poor" when making your decision.

As for the sound system, its ultimately hard to tell. It varies depending on how much bootspace you want to save, where you can place the speakers, if your going for loud (massive sub) or exceptional quality (a large range of sizes placed around your car)

Its always best to start small and work up. A lot of people will get a pair of 6x9's and put them on the parcel shelf, and either get an amp for them, or in some cases wire them in place of some standard speakers they remove, my clio came with 6x9's as standard. You may find that just the 6x9's give you what your looking for, and if not you can look at buying a subwoofer and other additions. What you have to remember with subwoofers, is the size and shape of the box you mount it in can have a large effect on the sound it produces.

I dont buy into this car modding lark. Give me a bog standard car with a nice air freshener and im set. The stock speakers in my car are plenty loud enough.

ill give you a good standard car relatively cheap.

audi a2 1.4 tdi engine very nice and 1.6 fsi petrol is also nice

comes with an awesome standard speaker system with an amp built in.

interior very nice comfortable.

speed tdi is very quik and fsi is lightning

dad had one for 3 yrs only thing that stopped the car was a flat tyre.

shell is made of aluminium and results in extra speed and like bullets going up hills.

very stylish some have standard chrome rims some have nice normal alloys.

and selling now for 4-5 grand atm and only a few years old

havent done a quote for 1 but i shld imagine relatively cheap.

If your definatley going to get a sub, dont bother with 6x9's. Once you have a sub in the boot, its pintles having 6x9's on the parcel shelf... your going to have a sub thats kicking out **** loads more power than 6x9's can, meaning the will just over power the sound of them.

Buy a decent sub & amp, then look into buying some decent comps for the fron and amp them aswell.

I agree, 6x9's are a waste of time.

Those car's your looking at are also a waste of time, i've never seen the point in modding corsa's like that. At the end of the day you'll spend a few grand modding it which you'll lose when the time comes to sell. I modded my second car (Saxo VTR) and after spending loads of cash on performance parts (body kits etc aint my thing) i ended up selling it to buy my Focus RS and i lost a lot of money on it. Get a standard car, mod it yourself if you wish but remember you'll lose money and find it harder to sell once its modded. Imo wait till you have something worth-while and then mod it.

Depends on how you use the sub though. I didnt have mine there to pump out long continous low notes, cos I listen to rock music and no that weird **** everyone else does. So my sub was more of a "kicker" but was still able to carry some of the lower notes as well. I also never felt the need to turn it up so loud that people thought there was an invasion or some ****. It did infringe on the sound of my 6x9's a bit but they could still be heard.

Also bear in mind I didn't waste money on mine though as they came with the car.

Fair enough if they came with the car.
But if somone is buying them seperatley, aswell as a sub, id advise you use the money to buy comps instead ;)

Taken from the "why 6x9s r usless guide.....

"Full range 6x9's are generally seen as the kind of speaker you buy once and then never buy again.
The people that use them tend not to have heard anything better, so have no means to compare them or benchmark them.

There are a few facts about 6x9's, which need to be known:

They attract thieves.
They are incompatible with subwoofers that occupy the same airspace.
They drag the soundstage back, making the majority of the sound come from the rear of the car, which is unnatural, and sounds wrong in a large majority of cases.
They are usually mounted on a very weak baffle (i.e. a flimsy parcel shelf), meaning the sound they produce is not high quality.
They are not an essential ingredient in the ICE scene, despite what your mate Bazza might think.

6x9's that are slung on a parcel shelf, and that have a sub underneath them will not sound good.
The 6x9's will be 'beaten' by the air movement that the sub creates, and this will lead to them producing distorted sound.

Boxed 6x9's on a parcel shelf, although relieving the problem of airspace competition, will drag the soundstage back, making all the sound come from behind you. This has a negative effect on the imaging in the front of the car, and makes the music sound unnatural.

The money spent on 6x9's could be much better spent on a decent set of component speakers for the front end, and if the front end is right, the rear passengers will not need something behind them to enable them to hear the music.
6x9's are aimed at the common spotty irk who knows no better than to sling a pair on his parcel shelf. Don't fall for the marketing hype.
In 99% of cases, 6x9's have a negative effect on the sound as a whole, not a positive one.
Full stop. End of."

for 60 quid you can get a top quality parcel shelf made from pli i beleive and produces a sweeter sound of music.

the best way to go is 2 5"'s in the front
2 tweeters in the front 2 in the back
6X9's on back shelf
sub in the boot

some may agree with the 6X9's sum may disagree
and some may have never heard of tweeters. they are a neccesary part of your ice if you ask me.

tweeters will only sound decent if u mount the rest of the component(mid bit) in close proximity.

Seriously, the best way to go is NOT with 6x9's on the shelf.

Even if you have a pli shelf.

Your comps is two 5" and 2 tweaters, and you can pick a decent set up for aroung £60-80.

All you need to do then is amp them, your sorted.
