Think the GM's need to be looking into the accusations regarding selling items for IRL money. They don't make money them selves.

They've confirmed they're quite happy for people to sell chars and/or items for RL cash. Quite surprising really.

Edit: Probably should have added ''according to a few people in guild'' to the above!

Really?

People actually buy items on Private servers lmao?.

Yea it's happened on all private servers I've played. Surprisingly big market for it - 10 (or however many) years on. It's been a bannable offence though on the rest of them, or that's what they say outwardly anyway.

Seems silly people buying items that are gonna last may 6 months or so.

Strange people with far too much money.

I am told the chinese are outbidding everyone else. Wonder why? Never heard of them buying before they usually selling everything from gold right the way up to rares.
Surely on other pservers its the same handful of people buying that everyone else tries to jump regularly. They often easy meat, relying on levels and high stats. Some servers will even sell to them direct. Take the money n run types.
Sam now posted a disclaimer.
Lets see the euro scam again please
Level a char, sell it, claim it back from the server admin. Way to go.

They're winning every item because they're paying ££ for it. Where as most people on the server won't spend real ££. That's how it's going to go from now on, been watching it slowly happen since they came in. Once one of them told me 'we don't sell or buy for real money', funny how that's changed now.

Tempted myself to make some really good kit, sell it for ££ to them, then quit.

Selling level 49 and 86% warrior.

Do you go to nightclubs and theme parks? Buying items is jus the same as buying "fun" if you enjoy something I don't see why you clahouldnt buy ingame items for fun. Apart from it gives an unfair advantage and shouldn't be allowed in this game. After all we play this because we don't want to give bum coders and owners a subscription.

I totally disagree with buying items for £s. but I dont agree with your reason for not. Hence the quote.

Im sorry but i dont get the problem? Personally i wouldnt spend real money on this. But if people want to... then let them?... its only like spending money on an xbox expansion or people who have hobbies that cost alot of money? None of it lasts forever but if thats what they wanna spe d their money on then so be it. Aslong as the GMs aint making items for them and levelling people i dont see any problem lol

Nightclubs and themeparks are a different class of product genius...they're designed to be purchased for the short term...there is the option for longer term purchases too however - club membership or theme park season/annual passes etc.

This is software/video games - nowadays people are paying more for intangible products (i.e without a CD, which was the old validation for your money) that can be redownloaded for free if lost (xbox games, iPhone apps, antivirus). "Redownloaded" is the key word, even though my PC is flagging up spell-check. Even if you use in-app purchases the app will still always be there, with the only real threat to your access to it being if the product requires regular connection to a server provided by a company and that company goes bust, which is a common variable.

That's what happened with Euro Mir...$6 a month was feasible because I guess the idea was for the server to stay up for alot longer than it did, and giving further credibility to the idea of purchasing items...look at World of Warcraft, you can make $$$ on it because you know your account/item will be there next year. Its a game backed by a company with staff, financial statements, budgets, administration etc etc, a proper organisation.

AceM2 is run by individuals in their spare time, for free, at cost (and is being run very well imo, I would like to add). However past experience tells us that it is more than likely for a LOMCN server (i say LOMCN because you have RZ and P69) will tank eventually, as the variables are too unstable and the risk too high. For example, the community may boycott it, it might get hacked, cheaters may flood it, team might stop being arsed to run it, or pay for it, or listen to peoples ****, or a better server comes up. Many people have already left, and personally I cba anymore (not because I didnt enjoy it, because I spent too much time on it lol).

The closest thing you can compare to buying items and chars on AceM2 is BUYING AND TAKING CRACK COCAINE.

SO IN CONCLUSION, as I have written this while at work and bored and its pretty much bullshit, however coherant enough for you to have reached this stage, I would like to say partyyyy peopppleeeee woop woop.

So how about obi compare it to having a drink of alcohol? It's still the same thing, well atleast if you buy something ingame the odds at it WILL be there tmoz. A pint will have been drank and posses out within a day.

The original reason most servers don't allow irl cash for items was because the people running the game are getting nothing for it. Yet someone that plays the game can make £s.

From my time playing on Chinese EVE Online I got into a lot of dodgy dealings with stolen paypal accounts that were basically shared around players and used to buy ingame currency.

Hell, back when euromir started paying for subscriptions I would pay using dodgy credit card information some guy would give me (romanian I think).

Maybe these guys are legit but it wouldn't suprise me if it's not costing them anything :).

Although I don't agree with people being able to buy kit for irl cash becuase it does slowly kill the game. It is pretty much un-avoidable.

If people want to buy items its their own choice its their money at the end of the day - they can do what they like with it.

False. You can't throw it at people, that's battery.

LOL
It isnt really unavoidable in a player base this small. It's obvious who is buying. Less obvious who is selling but if those that buy get whatever it is confiscated fast it would be discouraged.
This needs more than one to look after and maintain the server and keep an eye on the players not a single overworked much abused coder.
