well some of you may or may not know , passed me test on tues so thought i would check out some insurances prices on some cheap lil cars.

i checked when i turned 21 for what prices would be if i actualy passed my test ( this was 4 months a go )
went on swiftcover and got a quote for 1300 fully comp on a corsa 1L , i thought thats ok i suppose (long story short thats cheapest quote i fond anywhere)

so now i passed i checked again , swiftcover wont insure me on a polo 1L or corsa 1L (quote declined)

and compare sites want 1900 pound , thats for the corsa and for the polo cheapest was 3 grand!!

most expensive quote was 6 grand for the corsa 3rd part fire n theft lol!

so my point of thread anyone know what a cheap car to buy and insure would be lol.

thanks alot.

Well first of all, Insurance has gone way up since last year. Way up...

That 1.9g is probably what your gonna be quoted.

Admiral Multicar Insurance. Get your whole family involved it saved me over a £1000 overall, and a few of my pals have followed suit. Or you could become a named driver underneath someone with more experience and thus a lower quote, say one of your parents, which would cost less but if you do that do it with Direct Line because they offer no-claims for all their named drivers too.

But I think Prai is right, as a first time driver 1.9 in this current climate is probably gonna be the best you'll get for first named driver fully comp.

Quinn Direct. try a quote on their website but if you've used a compare site it will most likely now come back the same price.

Direct Line are the cheapest for me. Pay about £680 for my Golf, fully comp and no claim protected. Everywhere else was quoting anywhere from £1500-4000

Quinn Direct won't insure new drivers anymore, you've got to have had your license at least 1 year and have 1 year NCB.

The best bet is to go through the yellow pages and look for companies that insure for new drivers, as a lot of the more respectful insurance companies don't like new drivers. Also try going to a few insurance brokers, as they have the ability to get you cheaper insurance than what you will get online as well.

Really?

That's poor, they used to be really good for new drivers.

Try Adrian Flux also, they usually specialise in young drivers.

We used to recommend Quinn Direct to a lot of young drivers, as we found that they were really good. But once they changed their policy it became quiet hard to find a good insurer that would take on a lot of our young drivers.

Try tesco... i had a bump last year in my fiesta st went 50/50.. lost my 2 yr ncb. Went on mums policy @ tesco went from 4k to 1.1k.
Got my bike insurance with h&r which is £960 fully comp for a brand new r6 3 yr ncb. Might be worth a check with them for car....

Not only are Insurance prices going nuts, but fuel prices are also on the up... it's becoming a bad time to rely on your car.
