I'm having a problem with my net connection. After a few days of my server being up, my connection to the net dies. Although the server is still online and people can exit and recconect fine. I on the other hand cannot connect to it, neither can i view web pages or my email inbox ect. The only way to fix it is to shut down the server and restart. Then everything is fine for another few days.

Anyone got any clues as to the cause of this please?

Thanks in advance.

With the increased popularity of my server, the connection is getting unstable faster.. Anyone know of a way of managing the packets? Like a memory dump, but for the packet cache? without closing the connection..

Or am i better getting rid of windows xp pro and switching to windows server? Because it's deffinetly a OS issue and not an ISP one.

Can someone with experience reply please.

It seemed to happen to me on XP aswell. After switching to 2003 server, i have the server running for 4 days and there don't seem to be any disconnection problems.

Is there any software / hardeware issues with windows server like there was when xp came out? If not i'll have that slapped on in the next day or so.

Windows server is ALOT better than XP for hosting. Thanks to ragnar telling me info etc, i have switched to windows server. It seems alot more stable etc... and it uses less system memory.

I reccomend switching to windows server :)

Also you MIGHT have corrupted files. I cant remember what files they are called, but it could be the files that the 3in1 program make corrupt. It used to happen to me once i used the 3in1 program.

Yep it is. What i meant was, the files that 3in1 corrupts MAYBE corrupt...But something else may have corrupted them. Just suggestion ^__^

What firewall can i use on windows 2003? Because NIS5 or 6 isn't compatible.
The windows internal firewall which is built in to Windows 2003 works just fine.
