Hello LomCN!

So, now we've got our section open, I guess now is as good a time as any to start showing my face here. With that in mind I thought I'd introduce myself for those people who may be like "Who the .. is that?!" : P

Some may know me from Ace V1 server which, as with many, was the first server I had been on for a long time, and had my MiR fire rekindled.
I have a creative background and in the past years I have done a lot of graphics related stuff for MiR, as well as in the background for a couple of servers, a decent amount of scripting and quest writing across all the files.

I was offered a place on the team by Sam to contribute to Chronicles when the AceM2 server went down, and so here I am. I've been getting my creative on with altering/adding to the UI and doing some translations, and more recently branching into some map making.
I have also been endlessly writing quests, which I hope everyone will be happy with, and lots of other scripting related features.
We are all after a professional feel to the server(no Duct Tape here!) and I hope it shows in what has been accomplished so far. Know, we are doing our best to get the server up as soon as we can without cutting corners or dropping standards anywhere.(Still no ETA) : )

I will have my presence here on LomCN, and will answer questions as best I can. If anyone has any specific questions they want to ask me, feel free to ask/PM.
Note: I will also take quest ideas on board if they are do-able, saves my brain. : P

I got a question, are you able to give us any info on any of the new zones and what kind of level range they are, and also on top of that where does it all tie in to the leveling sort of tree that most people follow. and also since your the quest guy, what sort of rewards besides xp have you entailed to certain quests to make them what many would say "worth" doing

guild quests that unlock buffs that can be used would be good. say your sw is coming up you do guild quests that gives your members 2-2ac amc for an hour. to be used when needed .

hi Nemo, can we have a little insight on the quests please as others have asked, are they the usual "kill ten of these" etc?

Are there daily quests? can you jump into them at anytime or do you need to go back and do the lvl 7 ones first if you aint bothered before and your now lvl 40 etc. are they lvl based? class based? group based? or a mixtue of all?

cheers :P

i posted this on the other forum, i dunno if its do-able or bollox, but..

"you mentioned quests somewhere Sam, that you had em workin or whatever. Anyway it be nice if its not the usual drivel like kill 10 hens etc.
Stuff like kill 2 Apex members etc would be a good laff, or your daily for today... Twisted has been marked for death."

you could introduce these at higher levles so noobs aint getting hunted down, also make a death from a quest kill non dropable to stop people crying for losing stones/kit.

would also introduce everyone to a bit of pvp.

i dont mean everyone would get the same quest on the same day either, you dont want 40 ppl hunting down 1 player. randomise it, make it a rare quest or what ever.

Its a hard balance to make the main quests worth doing, but not TOO worth doing for those who want to stick with the old grind. They offer much like any other quests, exp, gold, items, but I'd rather people not know everything they can expect to get out of them, and keep some mystery. We also have many different kinds of quests so there should be something for everyone.

Quests seem fairly limited in mir, but I have tried to vary them as much as I can. Which is another reason I would like players input on what they would like to see, as I'm sure there's things that can be done which I haven't thought of.

Daily Quests I haven't got around to yet but they will be in, likely choose out of 2-3 each day which are each diff types of quest with varied rewards, split into level gaps for your level no matter when you want to do them.

I actually really liked that idea when I first read it. However, you have to think not everyone likes to pvp and some certainly wouldn't appreciate randomly getting a hit on their head. That in mind I thought of a few diff adaptations on it which I am hoping to implement(just haven't got around to it yet). Such as having an 'opt-in' system for it. Another way being those who kill a lot will get a bounty on their head when they've killed x amount of people, which will reset when they're killed.

There should be a few diff kinds of pvp questing that's entirely optional to the player by the time I'm finished.

I prefer the idea of having to "opt out" than in :P

But yer all sounds very promising and good fun.

how about some guild based quests, you need a full grp of guild members, 3 of each class grouped, (not just any 12 members), to complete it together. not sure how many can group on this mir tho. and you all share exp or an item each relating to class etc.
It also promotes the benefits of being guilded.

As for quest rewards i think it should have a random element if poss. If we all know you get a bene oil for doinig a quest thats one thing, but if theres a range of possible things/items, much better.
so you complete it and get a bene, i do it and end up with a nice added brace.

yer much better way me thinks, random is the way to go!
also make em not repeatable on same account so you cant farm it.

should do a hourly hide and seek, a random player gets marked, the longer they dont get tagged the better the reward. reward being 10% of their in bag gold/total exp for the lvl

restrictions would be can only be selected to be the hider if you havent been selected previously or have been selected but didnt win, wouls add incentive when your selected and would also make all them un explored caves useful at higher lvls

dont make quests a main focus please , i personally hate quests and i'msure i am not alone.

I like doing the odd quest but not quest after quest to level up.

Quests are optional, some people like to be told what to do and where to go, others like to go it alone. Saying that, there are some pretty cool Quests everyone will enjoy . :)

I am trying to make them balanced in a way that will make the people who don't want to do them not fall behind.

And as has been stated, we will indeed have some pvp based stuff for those who like pvp too, hoping to expand on this further in the future also.

In the future because certain aspects are not done yet. Plus, I said expand on it, not "it will only be in a long way down the line" : P

I wouldn't want to reveal anything that's not set in stone, and again, always happy to hear ideas.

Well for example you could make 2 types of quests.

killing quests(slaughter quests)
And story quests

slaughter quests are quests you will only get once each single mob in the game the slaughter quests will ask you to kill 10-100 of the type of monster and will the same exp as they gave when you killed them ( you'll level 2x as fast the first 100 mobs and after it'll slow down)
this will make people explore mir and hunt at different places instead of spamming the Bis place for example 2 wizzies in bdd
and for example if duo wizz in bdd is still good warriors and taos can atleast keep up by hunting different places for 2X exp.
it will take alot of time to accomplish this but it shure makes the game alot more doable and makes the game moreof an exploration intsead of grining best mobs for mir vet's.

And story quests talk for themselves they'll get you for example items or materials to craft items etc. also a decent amount of exp but aren't really mandatory these quests also work nicely with your slaughter quests and wont make you grind a certain place too much.
also for example these quests have milestones moments where you kill a certain boss and get a quest item that is bound to your character
and has the stats for the level you should be doing the quest on (for example these quests come every 5-10 levels)

example of story quests
(kill 10 of each type of wooma gives around 50% of the exp you get from killing all the wooma on your own)
then followup quest kill 3 wooma guardians gives around the same as the quest above maybe a little more
after this you have to hunt the almighty Wooma taurus and get his heart.
this quest will not give alot of exp but will for example give the shard of the wooma's horn which can be crafted into a wooma weapon which is around level 25 and also requires materials that drop from each wooma.
example:
WoomaBlade
level: 25
DC 11-24
acc: +2
Requires:
flamingwooma's hoof : 5
Wooma fighters trident's spike: 10
Dark's dart: 8
Wooma guardian's sword shard: 1
Wooma taurus horn shard: 1

so after completing the whole questline you'll probably be able to craft the weapon have gained decent exp and can move on to the next cave doing all these quests will probably net you 1 or 2 levels so you start it at 23 and end at 25 .
Now for example grinding with a wizzy can be faster but will not reward in new gear.
also the item you can get from quests 35+ will be subpar to gear found from the bosses at those levels.

i recon this is a really good idea for the server and can be time consuming but will make leveling up again alot more doable for the slower classes on their own or in parties
