My Default IP shows 192.168.2.1

If i go into my Router settings it shows as 192.168.0.1

I need to forward my ports with 192.168.2.1 but it says illegal IP. I tried with 192.168.0.1 which works but dose not forward that certain port.

Anyone know how to get around this? tried resetting my router but only changed the last number of the lan ip. Am on Sky Broadband and i no idea why it's been changed to this as it's always been on 192.168.0.

Thanks.

192.168.1.2 is your default gateway. You need to configure your router to give you a static ip ideally. which will be a 192.168.0..... so that when you forward ports, no matter wether you have other devices connected etc it will always forward the port to that device.

Which router do you have?

Yeah so this was working couple of weeks ago but now it's not and i know it's something to do with the Lan IP as thats the only things thats changed.

My suspicion would be related to earlier post that every time your computer connects to the router it connects via a different address.

Follow the guide here to setup your computer to connect to the router with the same ip every time then forward to the appropriate ip (setup above looks correct)

Looking at that it seems a bit strange :/

Try changing the ports forwarded to 192.168.1.2 and see what the result is?

I guess you'll have to change all your local ip's too.

If i change 192.168.0 it will say illegal IP, it's like the default Lan. So is there a way of change this? i have done this but it's messed everything up, i could only send packets and not receive packets but thats another story i set it all back now.

Its an illegal ip as its not an ip range on your router.

To be honest with you i dont know if you can even change it to a different range manually. (I remember having a router with a range of 10.0.0.... wasnt nice and was never able to change that. When you changed the forwarded ports to 192.168.2.1 and your server file local ip's to the same it didnt work?

if thats the case I reckon a new router might be on the cards, dunno why it would change its IP range all on its own unless its something that sky have done and failed to tell you about or why.

Instead of going into Sky Router settings using Internal IP in brower i used my Lan ip which took me too Edimax and i was able to forward my ports using the IP but it's still not working. Think i should be using 192.168.2 ip in the files? instead of internal and use internal for client? not on my pc at the moment so not had a chance to test.

Got it all sorted now thanks to Haz :). Am using a extension after my router and the Lan ip is different, i had to forward my ports on both.
