Hey just purchased one anyone got any good advice im abit of a noob with phones, herd you can jail break them or something although im not entirly sure what jail breaking is?! Anyone got any good advice or free software downloads ect?

You can jailbreak it, but the ease of doing so depends on when you bought it (latest models have a better defence against it, if you will...). If it's relatively new you will have to tethered jailbreak it, meaning you will need a PC with you every time you wish to turn it on (most people just leave theirs on, I don't need a tethered jailbreak but my iPhone is NEVER turned off).

I have upgraded my iphone's firmware to 3.1.3 by a mistake, you can't jailbreak the official 3.1.3 update just yet -.-

Even if i did, the baseband or what ever doesn't get restored , means jailbreak won't work i have been searching google for a while now, no one updated his iphone to the latest official update (3.1.3) and jailbroke his iphone, theres not a method released yet.

Sn0wbreeze 3.1.3 has been released which can jailbreak iPhone 2G, 3G and iPhone 3GS on the latest iPhone 3.1.3 firmware. One thing which is to be noted here is that it will work with iPhone 3GS only if it has the older bootrom (non-MC model). iPhone 3GS users who have upgraded to the stock 3.1.3 are still out of luck
