It knocks horses out, and horses are bigger and more sturdy than humans, and equivelent does would out a human out for hours.

Ketamine isn't a tranquiliser in the traditional sense. It gets dubbed as a "horse tranquiliser" because of it's use in short veterinary procedures when it's actual use in medicine is for it's an anasthetic and analgesic (painkilling) properties. Unlike other painkillers which simply block pain, Ketamine works by dissociating the mind from the body which can lead to some very strong out-of-body experiences.
