Heres a video to show you how bad the lag is on a regular basis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9gBUXpeQ5U

Just so you know, the video is of how my laptop performs. My desktop machine doesn't experience this issue. Which is the only reason I've been able to play so far. Still doesn't explain whats going on though because my friends laptop is considerably lower spec than mine, but doesn't have this problem. His laptop uses an intel graphics chip though, mine uses nvidia. My 3rd friend who plays, also has this issue, and his laptop is better than mine. Co-incidentally, he also has an nvidia graphics chip in his laptop.

Im also back home now, so I'll show you a tracert on my BT infinity connection

Trace complete.

Download fraps and check your fps.

What's your graphics card? I have a bunch on nvidia machines and no problems.

Info on pc spec would be useful, windows version, direct x drivers (start run dxdiag?) etc...

Also keep an eye on task manager to see if anything is spiking your CPU during lag...

Your lag looks like virus check tbh but I would hope you disabled this already to test?

It's a Dell XPS M1330 laptop.
T9300 Core2Duo
Geforce 8400M GS
4GB DDR2-667
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I did run fraps and noticed that the FPS freezes during spikes of lag,
I will check task manager to see if CPU usage spikes during lag.
I don't use any virus scanners on my machines. Never had any need for them as I know what to avoid online.

I noticed in dxdiag that in the display tab, I get the message "The file nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvd3dum,nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer."
Not sure if that means I need to update directx?

Two things while I was watching this, I noticed you have a) mini interface on, and b) ingame music on. May seem silly, but this is mir and silly things cause big problems, maybe try turn BGM off and go to normal interface, never know might help, only take a second to check. :)

I've already thought about both of those things mate :) tried them both and they didnt make any difference.

I have, however, discovered the problem. It's related to my hard drive, or the storage controller on my laptop. I guess the client is having trouble interfacing with one of the 2.
Copying the client to a USB device and running it from there completely eliminates the lag.

the Nvidia Forceware is the network card in your system i have an onboard one that causes me to lag out continually and thats an nvidia forceware might show in your device manager as NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
Im just curious if it is that then there may be an issue with that specific type of ethernet card i remember something about an old game having issues with a specific card and something had to be altered in the settings of it
