I really think that we should work on something called Legend of Mir 1.9 x1.0

Standing for Legend of Mir eXtra - an improved version of basic server files. The first number is the Mir edition it's in line with, the second is the extra edition.

Basically, it's a standard release of a full package of files that adds FEATURES (not pointless ones) and one or two carefully planned out maps. Could be released as a patch for 1.9 files and as a full package.

I'd like to be a part of this, and would anyone else? The idea is to keep it at a certain standard and add to it things that are considered worthwhile, releasing x1.5 etc etc - new editions.

The idea is to be very conservative and not add too much, but what is there fits as logical add ons to real Mir 1.9. - If people want to do things like spawning with pets or HUGE levels, this is up to them, but something like this could be standard across all servers.

1.9 1x Should Include the really up-to-date Mob and item sets that people have released. - So we have the best graphics sets and so everyone has it.

What would need maintaining:
- The server patch from 1.9 to whatever version x.
- If possible some complete files with 1.9 x1 already fitted.
- A client patch from standard Mir 1.9.

What I'd Personally Like to See In 1.9 x1:
- A new province that joins onto the unused border near Border Village on the other side of the river. -You know the place.

This should be new maps that fit together (Richens if you're reading this, you have some maps that fit the bill?). And they shouldn't be released until they're completely finished - this includes full NPCs for towns and full spawn files for maps.

This should fit well with the existing Mir :) - as if it was a Korean expansion that hasn't even come out yet. So nothing too silly like level160 mobs.

Who would be interested in producing or helping maintain a standard server files addon?

Yet another good idea from you MrSam. Great idea but would people on LOMCN work together to produce it?

I would help out where i could :).

Design and stuff of it obviously depends on who's interested and what they think of it - and obviously on the maps available.

Personally, feature-wise I think we should stay clear of pet shops and stuff which are advanced but which have a marked gameplay effect. Stuff like this should be left to the individual server owners to add. The idea is to just put in a sensible new area and some sensible new features that don't like seriously effect gameplay.

What I think would work well:
- GuildHome systems. A few people have got some good ones of these developed I think?

- I like the looks of the "ContestWall" map Richens is working on atm (look in maps section). If we can get permission to use this when it's finished that would be cool. :)

- In the contest wall, I think this would be a good place to implement the GuildBattleChamber. This could be either just for random fun 'battles' between guilds, or could be to fight for ownership of the contest wall? The contest wall can be used by whoever owns it as their guildhome. It costs 10 mill to try for it, of which the current holders of the contest wall get 5mill for defending.

What do people think?

I'd be happy to lead this and I can do a fair bit of the coding and design myself.

I'm gonna ask for a forum for it here, and we can see who's interested. Once again I gotta stress this isn't for adding the most "advanced" features- that's up to server owners, but a new province that doesn't unbalance anything I think nobody could object to.

Edit: Oh right I didn't know Richens had plans for it, well I was just being conceptual - we can find some maps that fit, I'll ask Richens + others what maps we could use. :)

Edit2: The idea isn't to work together on a server, it's to work together on a patch that all private servers could have. A proper, full, sensible patch - like one we could see in real Mir.

sounds good but when the shop NPC's are being made make sure that no items over lvl20 r in there.

e.g. if DSS's were in there n it was a server where rares r rare can take it out of balance

It's all been done before and it doesn't work, what the private mir community needs is LESS standardized servers and more diversity.

Too many people are relying on stuff other people have done already or are doing for them and im not just talking about the server files, maps are a good place to start, server teams and owners need to create their own maps that fit into their server.

But as a community we need to work on projects that server teams can impliment into their own servers however they want.

Who cares if Richens has plans for it? Richens doesn't own the right to that map or any other maps for that matter, if you've got an idea for something....learn how to use the map creation tools, make the map(s) and release them, then it gives the server teams more choice on what they feel is best for their server.

As for having a patch that is applied to all servers, that will work even less than creating a new set of standard server files, each server is different (to a degree, essentially their all the same except for slight changes too the databases and maps), but even those slight changes to mobs names and item stats or whatever will make this patch your talking of a complete waste of time because it wouldn'ty fit properly into any server without creating tons of bugs and errors that would be different on every server, which would mean lots of rewinds and crap like that.

However....if your just talking about making a few new maps and calling that a 'patch', well that would work but new maps are made/found and added to servers every week so thats nothing new.

+ Theres the fact the server creators as a whole still can't decide on one generation of files to use, many servers still use 1.4, lots use Ledu, 1.9, emu's or whatever i havn't been keeping very updated on the mir versions as of late which just adds yet another obstacle to your patch idea.

So to sum it all up, creating a patch using new concepts, ideas and stuff that EVERY server can use.....is basicly impossible, and for the part of it that is possible, it just isn't going to help servers move forward.

Well I like the idea of people who play real Mir being jealous of the extra real-patch-like content that people on private servers are using as standard.

Like the argument about if we're more advanced as private servers than the real Korean Mir etc. - It's hard to say because some servers have massive massive exp and level160s and level160 dungeons etc - definately different, but hard to say it's like "better" as such.

A decent patch that a lot of servers take on that doesn't add items etc (again that's up to server owners) or massive exp... just decent (not daft) content. - Make the people over at real Mir really jealous. :) - Plus people would start to talk about and know the new province etc, and in what version of Mir your server's running you could say 1.9 x2 etc - a sort of 'official' measure of it all.

i couldnt b bothered to read hates rable, but i did see the bit about it being done befor. it has, many times people have tried to do something in a team and it just doesnt work. main points are..

dont let anyone in the team who will take over - they will most likely go off on their own and it will never get finished
dont choose people who you think might quit
DONT choose random people who say "oh, id love to help you, im not that experienced but im a quick learner"

If your going to organise who helps you out, then please just take this advice, choose a SKILLED team, not just people who are sucking up to you and being nice.

that is all ^^

I edited my above post while you were poing MrSam ^^.

As for making offical mir users jealous, the only way to do that is new stuff coded into the servers files (or new graphicical content), which no one here is really qualified to do to the degree of gaining the interest of new people, we get all our files from the chinese/koreans now, then we just translate them, move them around and thats basicly all thats happening atm.

More maps, npcs and anything else that we could actually put into this 'patch' would not change the way the people still using offical mir think of private mir.

And again what we need least at this stage in private mir's development is a system to measure the servers.

lol yea the very first line -_+, lazy.

:doggy!:

EDIT: Oh and ultimately we will never make anyone jealous, as the forum is about sharing all files and stuff can be attained by anyone , the best we can hope for is gaining the interest of more people and increasing the popularity of the forum/private mir.

Would be nice if wemade would give jobs to private server community.

Don't see it happening + its in china?

Learn to speak chinese, learn everything about the server and how it works(going throught the code) go to college and maybe you will get a crappy under payed job at wemade. ^_^

and LOL at "what about an unknown email address", who would they know who to recruit then? genius.
