I remember having an arguement with a highschool teacher about black clothes attracting heat, a few years ago.

I said plausible things like "How can colour dictate intake of radiation?" and "I don't see how a colour can also dictate whether something is exothermic/endothermic".

She replies "EVERYBODY KNOWS BLACK ATTRACTS HEAT".

What a fucking dumbass highschool I went to.

Its true if you wear black clothes you get hotter than if you got a white top on. Have you never seen those bin bag kites? Where its just one big black bag, floating while tied to a string? Its due to the light being absorbed by the black, transferring into heat. Thus causing the inside of the bag to heat up, causing it to rise.

Now the reason for wearing black in the desert is due to it causing as you said a convection current, which for people who don't know is when the heat rises, and "sucks" colder air into the place from which its just risen from. Causing a loop effect. Now due to the black robe absorbing the light which is converted into heat, it caused this current. Now this didn't happen to the guy in the white robe, as his clothing reflected the light, which didnt give him this heat energy from the light to cause the same effect the black robe did.

So it isnt down to the colour its down to the style of clothing.

car with black leather seats in the sun, they get rerli hot !

and then a car with white/cream leather seats still warm but
not as hot as black

Right i believe black does attract the sun radiation however it doesn't matter which color you wear because before it gets to the skin its cooled down.
