limewire download speeds

Dose any 1 know why my limewire spped is stuck @ around 25kb/s on a 2mb line. I am not using a router so i don't need to forward any ports i think :dunce:

getting bored of waiting 10 mins for a song

To be honest mate, dont use limewire. Programs like this has asmuch virus's and currupted files as it does honest files.

Your better off torrenting albums, or even do your fav artists a favour and buy their albums.

Limewire is easy to use if your smart. Work on the principle of 1MB = 1minute of music. Look up the album details and see if they are a close match. Dont download anything under 1MB in size from there.

In terms of your download speed, you can only download as fast as other can upload. Ive got a 10mb line, but if the person uploading can only manage 3kbps then thats the fastest you can go.

LimeWire is pretty fast for me, on 4mb connectio though. I was on 2mb about 3 weeks ago and limewire was still downloading at good speeds. Its depends on how many host really and there upload speeds (as stated above).

Yep, as Perebble said, get the pro version (new BETA one) from limewire free lol, or torrent.

Change the limewire port and add it to your router i found this helped my speeds.

i get on fine witrh lime wire, you have got to know what files and file types to look for, if your in experianced with limewire it will suck because all you manage to dl will be virus's, ive never had a problem with it, im on a 10mb connection, i get dl speeds up to 500kbps on most dl some more some less but it stays around 500 per dl

i dont understand torrents, i know its off the original topic but if anyone would care to explain how they work please do?.

it works like this you need a bittorent client ie bittornado

once this client is installed on your pc you go to 100s of website on the net and download a very very small file called the torrent

this torrent opens in your client and the download starts

speeds
this works on seeds and peers

seeds are the peeps with the full game / movie what ever it is you are getin.

peers are peeps like you who are downloading

more seeds = more speed

as you download you upload to other peeps makin the speed faster

works like a charm for me. 4-5megz song takes about 30secs for me on average

If you do use BitComet as the client and www.torrentz.com as the search (torrentz searches loads of good torrent sites - TorrentSpy, BTMon, ThePirateBay, Mininova, etc.)
