Little bit of advice?

So, picked up my new pc today.. It has windows 8 installed on it. I have downloaded the client and patched it etc and when I press ok to get to the login gate my screen flashed black then goes straight back to the desktop, the icon stays at the bottom as though the application is open but its not :/ anyone had this issue or can shed some light on the matter?

Step 1: Uninstall Windows 8.
Step 2: Take said Windows 8 disc outside, start a small shrine to a deity of your choosing, and set aforementioned disc ablaze.
Step 3: Install Windows 7.

*Optional* Rub Windows 8 ashes across your forehead while proclaiming "Simba!"

anyone know how to fix font in chat overlapping with j y and other characters?

Try updating Direct X, or Compatability mode.

This made me giggle haha :') yeh this is the first time iv used windows 8 prefer windows 7 myself but hey ho it was already pre installed.. The issue was solved down to the client actually not fully downloading the mir.ini it wasn't putting the options in, after deadgirl and nemokid sent me them and pasted it, worked fine so hey presto.. Only problem being now is I can't change .dat to .exe coz ****ing stupid norton was pre installed too and me being stupid forgetting to uninstall it well has simply resulted in it automatically changing what .dat opens as and has set itself to 'always open with' so I guess that's erm.. F**ked haha

First thing you to with a new machine clean install of your OS and find your drivers ! hate bloatware

Got some app that finds all ya drivers for you on a USB so not too worried about that tbh, bastards never provide you with driver discs now though, pain in the arse

did you get 'touch' screen with win8 ? I got Dell XPS One 2710 with thouch screen and my first impressions of win8 are not bad at all. But it may be different once I start thinking of doing something productive, like running mir LOL, will test it today and report.

Like I said it was already pre installed and tbh it runs mir smooth as anything don't think iv ever once ran like I do now when I used my laptop, obviously that ain't down to the OS but iv not had any problems with windows8 SO FAR but, yeh.

Works nice and I can use my fingers to walk and operate everything except that I don't know how to do right click with fingers. Also my fingers are a tad too big for some uses.

I believe I run in 1024x768 windowed mode and the window could be bigger on that huge screen but its playable as is. F12 options pannel doesn't offer info which resolution is running or ability to change it and I don't remember how I did do these changes before (when the server was like one month old). I may have to edit ini file to do the changes.

Dude, if your running it through a hdmi lead try using a VGA or DVI cable I used a VGA and it runs perfectly at the right resolution etc now on my tv and it's a 1080p 42"

Not sure I am the dude, but I don't have TV with any of those inputs. Besides this computer only has HDMI Output (besides optical sound output). The Nvidia 640M video is 'onboard', soldered in.

:/ have you tried messing about with the resolution in advanced settings on your graphics card? Either way at least you can still play I suppose
