Salvation will be closing n the 15th december.
Ive tried always to get players to subscribe and donate to cover the costs but its not happening.
I carnt afford to cover the server costs as i dont have a job which i will haver to change now.
Ive loved every minuite of making mir but now its time to close it and get back to supporting my family.
Its just a shame that its ending but my familys financial future must come first.

The server will be up untill the 15th then it will close.

Ive loved the last 2 years but this is it.
Lot of love and respect to gav mark and alan and to any one else who has supported me.

What can i say..... so after all of pauls fuss about how im only in it for the money, blah balh balh.. and all the trouble hes caused.. hes now not even hosting a mir server

Just find it hilarious hes closing down cause hes not making any money, yet from what we've heard it used to be / DR was orginal hosted on his home PC lol.

But I agree with pwnage, its totally unfair on the current players, especially those that have donated a decent amount of money towards it.

I understand you can't afford to keep paying for a dedi out of your own pocket, but you take this risk when use dedi's and not a home PC

yer thats my point, he said in a post on DR forums that he could host DR on his own home PC, but gave it away to some other guy cause he thought salvation would be where the moneys at

now its not turnt out to be how he thought.. hes givin up on it

i just wanna see pauls reply... after all the nonsense and crap hes caused here over how he says others are ruinin mir etc.. yet hes just treatin servers as a quick buck and acitn like its a buiseness lol

Servers are bloody hard work, if your not willing to put the time and effort in your never going to get anything back.

People have to bare in mind, many servers barely pay for themselves, let alone make a profit.

It is indeed, but a number of people said that Ben was abandoning Low Rate FourHeros and everyone that donated would lose out, clearly this was never the case as LR is still up.

Think Ben is just making the point that Paul is doing exactly as he said Ben would do.

I spoke to Paul about why he is closing it and he has basically said that he could not cover the costs with the small amount of donations he was receiving from pots etc...

He said from day one that he would not go down the path again of selling expensive body items, levels etc... as he felt it was unfair to do so after he had previously done it on Dark Realm and it had pretty much messed the game up for non donators.

I Honestly did not believe him when he said that if it come to the point of having to sell body items to cover the costs, he would not continue with the game and close it.
I have to give him his due that he has stuck to his word and done just that.

The silly thing is that he was constantly asked to sell items that would have easily covered the costs, but refused. He sold 2 items a couple of weeks ago to cover next month fees, but I think after doing that he decided that enough was enough.

What shocked me even more that he has given the 2 players a refund for the items he sold :thumbup2:

I don't want to seem like i'm sticking up for the guy but I am genuinely impressed that he has stuck to his word, firstly by giving Dark Realm to Wayne for free so players would not lose out on what they had donated, and secondly he has stuck to his word on Salvation and made no attempt to milk cash from anyone.

I know Paul has his critics, but he has been pretty fair to everyone and don't think he should be criticised for sticking by his word.


@ Ben = I know you will probably love the fact that Paul closed the server, but I don't think it is for any other reason than he did not want to go down the heavy donation avenue again. You closed OS that people had heavily donated on, started 4H mid rate and took donations, now moved onto High rate and have started selling almost everything.
I really don't want to start another flame war, but people in glass houses should not throw stones, and you don't exactly have the best track record for running free servers do you?

There is so much more that could be said by both sides, but the mods have requested that it all stops and people get on with it.
Hopefully you can act maturely to respect that.

Edit: As for Dark Realm, it is making a bit of a come back now Wayne has took over and is starting to get many of it's old player base back along with quite a few new ones.
Wayne(the new owner) has made the drop files so it is not necessary to donate in order to get an uber kit and is working on systems to be able to close the gaps between new and old players.
Now that the problems that advertisers were having seems to have been resolved, maybe he will start to re-advertise Dark Realm and get the numbers up more.

Hopefully the advert will be shown some respect by the Pob haters and given a fair chance at succeeding.

i do love the way u always jump to pauls rescue lol. as celsuis said, i used a lot of the money that was made from OS to develop the current files we use, and OS was closed to futher develop them... (the reason was we had to start with a wiped db to continue progressin, so the decesion was made to make a new server).

4heros has nothing to do with this thread ne way, but obv it was gonna get bought up. low rate hasnt and still doesnt sell any items, so dont make paul out to be some sorta saint that never sells items

i rly dunno wot it is with some ppl... makin out that sellin items is such a bad thing. ive found out that servers where u can buy items gain a far better user count, and creates a better community with some rivivaly... as a lot of ppl wouldnt play FH LR because of not sellin items etc... hay ppl are just lazy and would rather pay for stuff.. its their money, if they want 2, why not. ive even paid for items in the past - no different than buyin a computer game/clothing, ne thing.

I played OS and donated heavily so don't try and tell me I don't know the score m8. I started to play 4H low / med rate, donated a bit, but left because I found it boring and went to play salvation. I fell out with Paul so started playing 4H high rate and loved it.
I still play it now and know what is sold, so again, don't tell me I talk Bull ****.

I do not hide the fact that 4H is a dam good server but feel that the way donations are currently going, it is only going to be a while before it becomes exactly like Old Skool and the donators take over making it pretty pointless for non donators to play.
I am not saying this to discredit 4H because i am not against donations at all. I am one of those who work long hours and don't mind spending a few quid on something I enjoy in an effort not to fall to far behind, I just hoped that it would not become OS and we all end up loosing thousands again :sad:

The 4H forums are filling up with comments of players who have the same concerns as me, so please don't make yourself look silly by saying that I am telling lies.

Ben = i dont want it to turn into OS where x10 pots etc were so easy to get no1 ended up donating and things began to struggle... im sure some ppl would donate and sell exp pots if the price was right. maybe u just need to offer more for them!

nothing has been sold on fourheros HR that in the gameshop available to everyone, if i want to sell stuff like paras thro the shop, then i will... i aint gonna go hiding it lol

as i said on some thread somewhere, the big donaters that have donated a lot in the past, i have offered some discount and allowed them to take items straight instead of a random box, as i feel its my way of repaying them and thankin them for all their donations over the past 2 years... as after all, without them we would not be where we are now, we fantastic files and a great server

also.. the last part about ur son windin me up or w/e... sad to say hes failed, i dont get wound up over mir lol, and i rarely ever read ur full posts.. infact 2nite is prob 1st time ive read ll the way thro ur posts, but im bored

If you read my post Celcius you will see that I never put donation servers or owners who take donations down. I said that it is a shame that so many donations are taken on 4H because it is starting to upset the stability and balance of the game. I also worried that it would effect the life span of the server and put off many of the players who are unable to donate.

It is not Bull **** or intended to cause the server damage, it is a common fact that it happens and it is a view shared by many of 4H players on your own forums (though I must admit many posts regarding it have been removed).

I did fall out with Paul and have no attachment to his server. My son played it / helped out a bit with adverts etc...

It may appear like I jumped to Paul's rescue, but anyone who knows him would realise that he can speak for himself and does not need my help LoL. I simply believe that critisism where it's due and credit where it's due, and I think Paul done the right thing in the way he has acted.

If someone came on here and said "the 4H team is crap at makin servers" I would say "that's not true", does that mean I'm jumping to your defence or stating what I beleive?
