Iv always had a pc, neva really liked macs. but lately ive been considering getting one.

windows is just getting annoying slow all the time, so i wanna find out my options.

i dont play games much (only one ive played in last 6 months is CA)

All i do is listen to music, go on the interweb, and check my emails really.

I make website when i can be motivated to, so i also use photoshop and notepad from time to time.

Worth getting a mac book?

My brother (in uni) just got a MacBook Pro. Cost him about £1000 and it's very nice lol. I still don't know why he got it - he had a Sony Vaio before which was bloody cool.

For what you want, yeah you can do all you want on a Mac - they're very nice but if you want to play games - I doubt you'll be able to play much unless it's for mac.

Mac's are extremely sleek as, looks so flasshhhhyy.

& and if you're a student, get a discount! Very fast too - faster than expected. Also, he had the touch pad thing, where if you slid two fingers parallel together it'll minimize to desktop - silly but cool things like that :P

No Ferrit, waste of money (in most, but especially) your situation. Either;

  • Buy some more RAM
  • Clean up your porn
  • Reinstall Windows

true i only have 2gb of ram, but theres fk all on here so it shldnt make a diff. i only installed windows 7 a few months ago so it shldnt b sluggish.

plus i have a shuttle, and my nvidia is so loud and hot. annoying to have to take it apart and dust it every month :(

i think i just like the concept of everything actually being compatible and working like it should on a mac. not having to install a million codecs, and other programs to get my music/videos/ipod working.

Well your limited to what you can do compatability wise with a mac but im told youl never look back if you get one. Obviously its handy to have a windows pc too for programs that dont work with the mac. Aprrently you cant really get virus`s on macs too.

My mate loves his and tells me everyone with windows is an idiot.

Yea macs don't really get Virus'.

But the compatibility is harsh, and I prefere the "look" & "feel" of Windows.

Those are the reasons I'm with PC.

Don't assume you can't get a virus on a mac because you can, and my mate did and fked his harddrive up but mac just sent him a new one, i dunno the full details but there are viruses out there for mac also. But my mate just used his mac for making music etc and its ace for that purpose and more, but still imo i will always go for my pc as i know how to build my own and get it running how i wish, i think i'd get lost on a mac, but heard good things from mac users so guess it depends what your be using mac for or not.

back in the day Macs were used because of thier OS stability (which is why they were the standard in video editing), generaly higher specs (compared to other desktop manufacturers) and better graphics output capabilitys. But now only stupid people get them at they are just the same as any PC (they use intel cores and most people install windows on them in some form). The only people who really need a Mac are people working for the top design agencies working with specific pantone colours(as thier monitors are still superiour to most - especialy the laptops). Otherwise dont waste your money

You could install linux on your existing hardware would save you a grand
and still be able to do all those things you mentioned - check ubuntu out.
