I'm sure there used to be a rule on the euro forums about the market place if you advertised selling an item on the forum and then sold it ingame without posting the bids before hand so others could have a chance you would be banned from posting there? or something to that effect.

It's fair enough if you've decided to sell it in guild because no higher bid would of stopped you doing so but when you just sell it without warning it robs people of the chance to possibly obtain such a rare item & it's also counter productive for the seller as they might not end up with the highest possible amount.

Just something to think about. Even if such a rule isn't put in place or can't be enforced it's an interesting thought for those of you who post & bid there.

A seller is free to sell the item for whatever price they wish.
It's the same in the real world, if someone offers to buy something off me for 10 pound and someone else offers 15 pound, as the seller I can choose to sell it for 10 pound if I wish. Yes I missed out on 5 pound but that's my choice.

You can not ban someone for selling something at a lower price

I think what he's saying is people are advertising an item on this forum, then selling it to their mates in game and ignoring all the bids offered here (not even saying its been sold ingame etc) - and on euro they would ban people from using the forum marketplace in future as its bad practice.

It's like advertising an item on ebay, getting lots of bids - then closing the auction because your mate wanted it. Yes its legal, but it's rude - and frowned upon on ebay.

Problem would be, how do we police this?

We can't really prove the intentions of the seller, so it would need to be heavily monitored and recorded from both players and GM's, which is time I think could be better spent elsewhere.

Stupid idea lol.

It's a place to gain interest for something you're selling. To gain more attention than simply shouting on game.

Exactly my point, it's more about etiquette than sellers choice.

Most of the items never get shouted about in game though, seeing as that's irrelevant they are essentially just bragging on the forums that they have the item then just selling it to their mates, which is just a waste of time for the bidders.

The FF/Met Strike thread is a perfect example, NorthStar thought he was winning the bid only to find out its been sold without any notice.

Worthing is depressing.
Some guidelines would be useful.. as it stands alot of items are sold ingame before bids on forum are taken into consideration & other items are sold via Pm... Forum selling is an outdated and succeeded system with TM. There are faults on bidders & sellers sides, hard to blame an individual for a sale being ignored.

The forum is not an auction, its a place of advertising an item.
Just like placing an item on the TM for an astronomical amount to advertise its availability.

You will often find items advertised like both methods above are to catch the eye of real life buyers as in game bids aren't considered.

I believe its fine the way it is, the seller is not entering any obligation to sell the item and can do as they see fit. It may be frustrating to think you have a chance at an item you actually don't but a minor frustration if anything.

Would be nice if we could expand the TM system and allow bidding on there, so you either put a BuyNow price or a StartingPrice

BuyNow - just like current, if no-one buys after x days the item expires
StartingPrice - if someone matches or puts in a greater amount, that's the current winning bid - bidding closes after x days, otherwise expires

Nice idea, i'd like to see a reverse TM where you put say 'buying holydcstone', stick your offer of X million into the TM and someone can trade in their stone

Really like this idea, I cant imagine it would be possible though with all the possible combinations of added stats to items though? Unless it was simply designed for "Non added" items.
