on windows xp:
start > run
type in "mmc" (no ") press enter
file > add/remove snap-in
[add]
Click "Disk Management"
[add]
[finish]
[close]
[ok]
Click "Disk Management" at the left side
the right side will split in 2 horizontally, the top shows drives useable, the other shows all drives
a wizard may appear telling you to initialise a drive or so, go thru that (cant get that to appear, i have no drives that i need todo it with)
scroll down the bottom half utill you see the "unallocated" drive, right click it, goto format
do what it says
give it time to format, then close mmc, choose not to save

Right click on the "Disk 1 unallocated", then press create new partition, then when it asks, tell it to do a quick NTFS format, assign a drive letter and youre ready.
