Hey guys im sure you know what im going to say before you read this and apologies if its already been answered but i could find it on forum.

This is one of this things in mir that really irritates me and im not sure if anything can be done about it so il just ask and hope for the best.

Firstly ive known players in the past (yeh you know who you are lol) who have set up multiple accounts for mining and/or fishing (as in 1 computer running X amount of mir characters-not going to point how obviously) i find some servers deal with this by simply making mining less rewarding like 10-15k per full bag of ore and making BIO/PLAT/GOLD ore insanely rare, which then becomes unfair on the guy running 1 character not 10, as he cant find anything.
But secondly theres also the mining bots which run, mine then sell and repeat (as is my understanding) this was mainly when USAmir came about, if you played im sure you remember the endless chinese guys selling gold for IRL cash.

Is there anything that can done about this issue? or am i making a big deal out of nothing as i didnt play acemir?
Will gold for pots be easily obtained? obviously theres oma warriors for a quick small amount of gold for pots but they'll be hunted to extinction every spawn when server opens haha

Well I hope fishing doesn't work for one. Would like to only be able to have 1 active client aswell so you can't multi client mine.

I hope fishing isnt in game. And acem2 you couldnt continously mine same spot but people still ran bots. Dunno how they would be able to counter act it. They stopped game boosters so dnt see why the vouldnt find a way of stopping bots n such.

yeh fair point there m8, i think i remember ore dropping from zombies on a mir 3 server to use for refines.

easy way to fix this, make Ore drop from Boss/mobs.


Its so obvious.

and what would we do with all the spare wood from pick axe handles ffs!!..



Besides some people enjoy mining, "Twisted" felt violated if he didnt get his daily mining session.

you cant beat a bit of mining like if you cant give the game 100% for the duration of a hunt , chillout mine and watch tv :p

Most people didn't run bits they just ran 3 clients of same machine in windowed mode. All had to do was line it up so you could see the "no ore here" message on all clients and you could just do 2 click to make it line again.

Stopping bots isn't as easy as you think. Generally a bot is just a macro. Something that presses the keyboard for you and when mining you would act almost exactly like a "bot" so it's a bit difficult.

- Possible solutions to stopping people from making huge profits when running 20 mir accounts at once -

1. Pick Axe requires level 40 to use.

2. Monster spawn near miners (Agro).

3. Only allowed to sell 1 Gold/Plat ore to Trust Merchant.

4. Turn mining caves to high level caves, team work while mining? Weed out the newbs.

5. Heavy ore weight and not allowed to use town teleport when ore in bag.

6. Ore is untradable - Deletes when dropped, can only sell one ore to trust merchant, one at a time.


Number 1 is my favourite one, cause if you're leveling 20 level 40's then I think you deserve to mine with you're characters haha - g33k

anti miniing solutions? realyyyy? with things like that theres no point having the mechanic in the game if its just going to be a ball ache to use -.-

Sam said gem crafting disabled and might change it anyway. So no point in mining to craft ores. I don't like the macro bot multiple thing either. Like some of the suggestions. If there's plenty mobs and miners drop from bags that puts some risk into it.

Firstly nice 1 on telling people who didnt no how to do this lol...
secondly the lvl 40 pick axe is a bit of an odd idea, i think its safer to just see how it plays out.

wish i hadnt made this thread now its getting every1 riled up haha

Just remove crafting with ores, make mining a 100% gold option, by selling the ore to the shops, with higher amounts of gold per hour then levelling. Also add on a higher level requirement for pickaxes(35-40).

That way if there is an item someone really wants they can mine and buy it, otherwise they can just level with the smaller gold gains.

Another idea is have ore able to be smelted. Then use bars to create weapons/armours(up to level 22?) with the chance of created items making a stronger version at a small chance(5%).

Could have the mineral mines for creating jewelry as well.

Just a few suggestions.

no offence bud, but i think those suggestions would irritate me more than botting itself, i wish i hadnt made this thread now so many ideas going about lol!

if nothing can be done about multple accounts or botters then so be it i guess its not that big a deal when you look at the game as a whole.

Would disabling windowed mode as an option not be an idea to combat the old method? or is it possible to implement this outside of the scope of the game itself?

or

Is it possible to check an ip address of an account when entering a map? you could kick characters from the server if they bring more than a certain amounts of characters into the mining map from the same ip

or

If its possible to have more than 2 types of mining map now, you could have a different mining maps for different level ranges and then have higher value ores being mined in the higher level mines

or (evil option)

Stick lightning in the mining map so you need to keep an eye on hp much more often.

cant think of anything else at the moment.

I have to admit i do like a bit of mining when watching a film or cooking and would hate to see it ruined so if something is done it should really be pulled to pieces and thought through, so Jaffar91 dont be annoyed at making the thread ^.^ discussion is always good for a servers development (in my opinion at least :) )

Making it so the only option is to actively mine on your main guy is one of the worst ideas I can think of. This is a great way to make a game infinitely less exciting. The way it was setup in ace worked well.

Actually something I tried testing.

90% of the Macro's I used would fail to recognise any key or mouse presses whilst the client was active, which makes me think the Client already has the means to stop this built in.

Now, there's ways around this but it takes some serious effort on their behalf and I feel most players simply just used Macro's and will this time be unable to macro mine on a separate account. They'll have to do it manually on a different computer.

So basically, this isn't as big as a problem as it was in previous Mir versions.

Mining should be left alone it was fine in Ace,

What i do agree with is, a Safe Zone in the mines, as its a good social place to go, and keeps people playing, through the banter, if not alternative they could make a pk type of game along the good type of game, for example on WOW its Horde and Alliance. and One or the other team can attack mining territories through portals or something, it would actually be great to make the game play abit like horde VS Alliance type lol.
