Hello, First off this is going to be a rant thread as lately i've noticed a horrible increase in the amount of "QQers" in the recent sections and looking over threads it's getting to the point now where people will complain about anything.

A lot of people who still play mir 2 don't realise that they are actually killing mir 2 servers themselves, why? Mainly due to how lazy this community has become, server owners are being bashed left right and center and yet the community thinks they have the right to do this, from posts such as "yea this srv is crp m8" or "m8 not enough updates" because they sat and geeked.

Question to these players would be how many of you have successfully ran a server for over 3 months? Any? I believe there's only a handful that have actually done it and suprisingly they're still running. But I don't get how the server owners are actually tolerating this? I understand people will have there opinion but i understand a pointless opinion to a well constructed one and the mir community is lacking in that. I do believe that well.. the community is beginning to turn into the english definition of a "chav" they'll basically leach off something and use poor grammar skills (albeit slightly hypocritical as most people will begin from this point to try and point out the grammatical errors of this thread).

Honestly a lot of you are now taking servers for granted rather than a privaledge, mir 2 is dying and it is partially because of some of you. You need to treat server owners better and you need to put a lot more work into the posts to help the server owners out rather than just b*tching and doing sod all yourselves.

I don't really know the reason i wrote this i think it's just been a long time coming after watching over multiple threads.

To the server owners actually trying to make the mir2 section alive with a good server, good job and thanks for keeping LOMCN alive same to those working on files with new features. To the rest of you complaining about every little thing, I hope you don't stick around too long.

the players have got lazy granted.. but so have a lot of the server owners.

Most server owners only in-vision their server lasting a month, which is why content will only last a week to someone who geeks.
In the past you would create enough content to last a much longer period of time, there was little choice as more people "geeked" back then.

Another big factor is there has been very few servers which have lasted for a few years with mir, i think its pretty ****ty tbh, the funny thing is mir3 servers are more stable and have been up longer yet have a much smaller player base.

its just a waste of time when servers just go up n down like yo yo's, why invest your time into something which isnt going to even last a year?

so yeah I can understand the mentality of the players towards new servers, but that is not to say they should whine and ***** about them, as its as much the players faults as it is the server owners.

Don't get me wrong, i understand some whining but i understand the constructive whining to where MAJOR flaws of a server need work to oh this class levels faster than mine i'm not happy or how people have to level skills things like that.

The server owners themselves it can be questioned whether they have became lazy as in all due honesty you can't do that much without a coder these days and who will code for a server 10 year old game.

Sorry if my point was somewhat unclear but I hope this helps a bit more now.

You can do a hell of alot without a coder, this is the mentality that is making mir die. Everyone thinks these days that you need a coder to make a server great, well you dont look at P69, RZ, OS they had no coders just effort. Thing is nowadays people think a few flash coded tricks will make a server great it wont.

surely that boils down to uneducated server owners, and them not testing stuff before they release? (because they rush their servers out), ofc players will moan for the sake of moaning, the mir community is one of the worse for this i have ever seen.

not having a coder is no excuse, look at p69, 6-7 years running now, no coder. There is plenty a server owner can do to make their server unique from another without needing to code. What i find more ridiculous is there is 2(3 if you could lifco's) sets of files out which have loads of new features coded in, and yet server owners are still using 2.3, all for the sake of they are all ready sorted for them. few are willing to put the work required into the new files to make the most of them.

Its a just a lazy attitude of stick to what you know and what's readily available.

The problem is as far as i'm aware they don't have a high playerbase thus it's more a money sink than anything and a lot of server owners aren't willing to do that (i don't blame them personally) but I can say that I back my coder excuse up, you want quests, fair enough it's been done, people get bored, new maps, people get bored, new mobs, coder required, the thing is mir 2.3 is outdated on the things that can be done because it's BEEN done. But people think that oh yeah they'll get new content / new gameplay, things like that but it just won't happen.

People have some impression that mir will drastically change when in actual fact it won't. It will stay the same so people that say oh been there done that basically they've hopped on every single server and/or geeked one to the extent they've seen most content.

Because in all due honesty mir really doesn't have that much that can be done with it anymore, don't get me wrong ruby looks impressive in the extent mir has came along but people will get bored of it FAST, that much I can promise. And those are the qq'ers that are basically running these server advertisements as of late. I believe there's only 4-5 people I see post valid construction really.

My opinion is that the players have become so used to more professional and well maintained servers, anyone trying to start out is going to find it hard.

Things like dedicated servers are expected now, where as back in the day a server could go down and up like a yo-yo and it would be fine, the players would understand if the owner needed his computer to download or do homework.

As for coders, it is possible to make a successful server without them, as its been proven. However, I feel a lot of people don't give servers without a coder a second glance.

End of the day, no one is really to blame, times have changed, server owners have to adapt to these changes.

I dont get it, ruby/heroes are in a worse state than 2.3, why would u bother using them, there's not a single set of bug free stable files available, as the coders piss about half arsing projects, then start a new 1, no1s actually completed anything.
+ doesnt help that mirs coded in a delphi 7, which is basiclly a dead language, would help if it was in C++.

@ like celisus said, if u havnt got a coder, no1 will even read ur server advert, let alone log on, personally i'd just like a set of 2.3 files that worked properly, would be nice, and you'd probarly see alot more servers.

If no one uses them how can you expect the coders to iron any bugs out? files needs lots of use to unearth bugs, every game developer knows this, games go through rigorous testing before they hit beta and even then that turns lots of the bugs up, the more people who use the files the faster the bugs get found and fixed.

you cant expect someone to release a set of files which no servers have used without there being any bugs.

its a vicious circle.

aye, but why would u spend 6months making and designing your server, on a set of buggy files? that you have no guarentee anythings going to get fixed, rubys closed source, and only has 1 coder, whats to say he wont up and **** off and leave u in the ****.

and no-ones done anything on hero's files for months, its not worth a server owner putting the effort into them files when there noway near playable for a long term server yet.

Obviously, its a shame Thedeath was the biggest selfish piece of **** ever to inhabit this planet, as with his source we COULD create the first ever stable files mir has seen, as we know every single bug in the 2.3 files, and we could probarly do something about it then

If i saw that arsehole crossing the road i'd step on the accelerator, run him over, get out and stamp on his face untill it imprinted the road, then take a piss on his decapitated corpse.

and @ the guy who started this thread.

the reason everyone moans at server owners, is because the standards of server since 3 years ago has dropped drasticly, idiots seem to think that adding 300 new item names, a few Over-used to **** cave maps, and renaming your server "MIRSUPREME" makes a playable game.

it doesnt, mir's current content is overplayed, and people are tired of it, i log on a server see Bichon wall, And log out, i spent 10 year looking at bichon, if you cant be ****ing arsed to change the main town, then i aint even going to piss on your server, let alone play it.

also they always keep 0-50 the same as euro, i mean WTF Is that? and all the lowrates released are euro clones with a few new 45+ area's items.
I mean i could make one of them while having a **** on my laptop on a 30minute train journey to london.

there are hundreds of thing you could do with the current 2.3 files to make something different, its just the server owners cant be arsed, or just dont have the intelligence to realise the potential things you could with something as simple as variables.

Such a poet James...

I agree with the other server files, there's no guarantee bugs will get fixed or things will get added. You put your server in the hands of a coder who is doing it in his spare time for nothing.

Milo did a quick release the other day, and i am working on them as we speak. Instead of just trying to get a few things done and do a release, im trying to go through quite abit of stuff and do a big release. People just have to wait, don't see other people queuing up to help on these, so its either in our time or they don't get done simple as.

There isnt any huge bugs spot ruby for runningh stable and a nice server. People just dont take the time to learn how the files, work.

You post heros dont work? Funny we test them out today and things work fine, You posted Vars not in files well they are.
Should for us to post a update then saying someone work isnt good.

You say 2.3 you can so alot with ok but wheres your server?

Even if he were to release his source it would still require someone to work on it as any other files, we should count ourselves lucky having more options out there over 2.3. Lot's of people keep saying mir is dead and that's been said countless amounts of times over the years but mir is still here is it not ? and always will be in some shape or form. It's the same as soma the same community is still there years later and they have barely any updates since euro soma.

It's not about having a coder or what files you use, it's the creativity of the server owner that will make a good successful server, although having more up to date set of files with new features will attract players in the short term.

I don't think the Hero's files are in that much of a state. Would be nice to have a few servers out using the files like when they were first released so we can gather as many bugs as possible.

It is a little frustrating that work begins on files, then stops half way through them with people just moving onto other projects, but can you blame the coders for this? They put some good work into coding the files, only for the files
a. Never get used
b. Just get slagged off

A good, set of stable and up-to-date files would be great, but the last set of public files that were the most stable, imo was the 1.4 ones - And even they had many of problems, which due to the source could not be fixed.

Also a lot of server owners give up after a little while, because all they get if grief from players.
Some are only in it for the money, so once the donations start to dry up, they just close the server. This makes it hard for players to trust spending hours on a server, only for it to go down after a month.
