mir db's SQL + php

Has anybody actually tryed to make a website using php SQL to make things that can alter the such an such ingame. I'v noticed that other priv servers for games use this a lot. But by using this there able to alter details on there accounts alter bits an pieces of there characters and some iv even seen using auctions which the deal takes place without players havings to be at the scene..

I'v just been through the sql 2000 with sum bits an pieces of php scripts and well... I can't get it to accept the dbs lol. From what iv heard SQL doesnt surport a lot of dbs. Then again i know f all about sql, anybody a bit more in educated on this subject care to share there knowledge? ;p.

btw i have been working on a website specially run for a mir server for 3 weeks oso now. If i can't get SQL to work. Lets face it.... I'll scream

there was a version of mir which supported sql but it was never finished. it used to be by far the most advanced files back then.

as far as i know, current server files cannot be changed to support sql.

mir 3 uses sql, mir 2 doesnt, but saying that i woudn't be suprised if it was possible to be used on mir2. It's just a waste of time in a way.

Well I wouldnt say it would be a waste of time if it could be surported... It could add some unique features to the game. I believe it would be completely possible to add stats ac dc ect onto chars... also to be able to edit stats on items. Anything to do with databases could be changed with variables.

personally i dont think the m2server could handle it, each time something changed the item.db,mon.db and magic.db would all have to be reloaded. Would lag the server and adventually kill it. Maybe you could set it so all the changes happen at a certain time in the day, limits the reloads 2 1 a day, less stress on the server that way. My opinion neway

well obviously the changes could only be made once the server rebooted. just like mir3.

surely using the reload option in the m2server then the effects would take place? This could be done easily by using a macro.

Mir 2 can be converted to use SQL, I'm trying something similar to this using ASP and SQL Server 2005.

Well iv been told that it can't be done using sql.... Which is a bit of a bummer. How ever it can be done using other things all big words ect, which has got my head spinning round in circles. But basicaly said it can't be done with SQL because the db format isn't surported and to change the format of the dbs... It would mean redoing the whole mir files... Any volunteers? Lol.. I fort not. Well, either that or SQL surporting the files. I did hear the phrase 'Mir will never be surported by SQL.' I'm still a nub in all of this so i'll leave it to teh big bois.
