State the obvious.
- Which files do you still have on your computer?
- What are your plans with them?

As most of LOMCN will have recently noticed.
There had been a survere lack of servers posted under the Legend Of Mir II Section, including "Upcoming".

The aim of this post is to let people know what old files are kicking around on peoples computers.

- Maybe you have an old set which you would like to work on with somebody?
- Maybe you have a out-dated 1.4 set which needs converting but your not quite sure how?
- Maybe you just don't have the personal time to work on your files, and wish for somebody respectable to proceed with your files?

Share your thoughts & views on LOMCN with anything related to this post.
Who knows.. You may strike lucky!

Please keep spam to a bare minimum.

True, although I would say 2.3 were probbably the best set of files released to date. (And now unfortunately due to cheat engines, it's gone to pot).

2.6 I enjoy, although they are buggy as hell.
Hero files I dislike, the game in general I find is far too small and the whole "hero" its'self kinda ruins the aspect of mir & pvping.
Maybe if 2.6 & hero files could have a mix, it would work a treat.

Heroes files are the best to date imo, easy to use, not that many bugs and is fine to run a server with, uses less resources than other files and a very flexible to what you can do with them. As hazuki says don't like heroes dont use them. As for the resolution imo its far better.

I have my mir craft server files (heroes) still but i lost the client to them, i currently don't use them but may in time wish to work on it again.

I'm currently working with Hero files but I am unsure if I should release a server due to the update issue.
Is there going to be a big update which would require a DB wipe?
Talks of them working on a new set of files, should I even bother with these?
Kind of at a stand still and don't know what to do really.

I don't think any updates that happen in the future will require a DB wipe however since a new class is being worked on with it's own stat it'd be an extra field in the db so just keep back-ups of you database's.

I find heroes to be the better files, quicker to setup and has much more potential although the down side is (to me) is the quest system along with the bugs with scripting (having to many variables loading on player login, can't check the map player is on using qfunc).

Ruby I don't like that much but they are better than 2.3.

Forget the current files. You all need to start from scratch using java or VS C#. Stop pissing around in delphi, it's getting you nowhere real fast! I know it's slightly off topic but you all know it's the truth. This site should have 1x low rate and 1x high rate developed by genuine coders who are trusted (long shot i know) with a modern language using the images from the .wils. That way you don't have a bundle of crap servers with 50 players each after the initial noob period. Everyone can come together in one big massive bulk and fill a darn server up and donate to something that isn't going anywhere.

That's quite a lot of player base to suck in if you can start doing stuff right for this community and that starts by leaving delphi behind. You must all be bored of the snail slow progression over the past half a decade surely? I know individuals have tried their C# efforts and left them in the recycle bin but if you all come together, then maybe in a couple of years we'd have a LOMCN Mir 2 Beta? Let's be honest, Ruby servers and Heroes servers will come and go, come and go. It's time to create something established. Something that says "Suck my balls wemade, we'll do our own!", and that something... is a new set of homegrown files!

Pointless starting from scratch to be at the same point as current files are, sure it might open some doors in terms of development, but for the current mir player pool (couple hundred players) its not worth it. this forum may have 958 users visit but at least 60-70% of them are bots(you only need look at who's online to see this), and then there is the other huge chunk of active members that have no interest in playing mir anymore (like myself).

The Lomcn server wont ever happen, its been discussed many times before and if they couldn't make it happen during its hay day, then its unlikely it will happen in the dark times that come. Players want variety its why they came to p servers in the first place (that and it was free teehee) sadly what drives this forum will also be its downfall.

having to many variables loading on player login.

I had that problem on mircraft but you can work around it very easily having no variable in the qmanage and just call one folder from there which works fine.

I've set it up so the player(s) when they login they have to do @quest and clicking start/check kill's which then loads the var's.

Less spam please, keep on topic.

@Hazuki- This is true, although it's just personal choice I just dislike the screen being as small as it is
