Mir2 Priv Server's & the LAW?

Hi im makeing a server as some of you might know & when it's done im haveing 1000 copy's of my server burned & put in 12 game shops throw out the North West the shops have all rdy let me know that they will be willing to hand out 1 copy of my game that comes in a case with cover & booklet with ever top 10 pc game sold the game will be free im not going to charge for it but id just like to know b4 i have them done can i be sud of fined for this?

wouldnt put them near shops tbh :P

basicly the publicity it'd recieve would alert Wemade, and even if you are doing it for free your still using their files etc.
You'd need a licence to use the files tbh.

If Wemade wanted to they could shut down every private server running under legal rights i believe.

Wemade may also see this as stealing paying customers from them using their own files :l

u cant just go into a game shop and say. "here, iv made a game, copied it alot, u can have it".

you need licensing, authentication, and you especially cant ship someone elses free game for money.

wd on being stupid.

private servers are illegal. everyone hosting or even owning server files is in threat of being sued. even if you've edited the client thats still illegal.

to say wemade is one of the biggest korean gaming companies over there have fun when they read this topic, get your info and majorly hit down on you.

and yes before any asks, wemade do visit this forum, along with gn.

It couldn't have been said better.

I think WeMade don't sue people though because it would cost them more than they would make.

But I am sure a shop will NOT hand out these files for your server because it's copied, and illegal material.

wemade just cba to push out the amount of money to sue a few minors that only has 100 users on their servers. But when your server over-grows and you take their credit mayb they will sue you. Not because they care but for braging rights.

How many Times a week does this pop up? 'WeMade' nvm bout gn wemade ect... they cba to waste thier money on crappy little servers with under 100 players but say rage zone hit 1000 peaple one day (mental stop dreaming) im sure they would be forced to take legal action.

no. LOMCN is a forum, the forum dose not host any mir files. members of the forum develop and host mir retated files.

im sure if there was a big enough reason for it then they would persue that course of action, but there isn't a need to (or other wise they would)

It's illegal to use any WeMade trademarks and it's also illegal to redistribute their software (such as client and server), it's not illegal to use their sounds and graphics - as long as you make no profit, you must not edit the art and you clearly state the author of the art.

WeMade would only really take action if there is a server which they feel is losing them alot of money (say one with 500+ players,and it' making money)...

Also, they would only sue someone if they knew that they would make more money than it would cost to sue to someone. Which they wouldn't. That's why they have taken no action to prevent use of the serverfiles...

They've tried to take LOMCN down before, but have never followed up with legal action.

game shops will take no notice if it doesn't have a nice shiny badge from a well known games distribution company, also if u burnt the CDs your self they would again laugh in your face, u would be better standing next to the big issue homeless guy in towns giving them out

also i have been using these forums for about 3 years they have been shut down by wemade what 50 times in that space? free speech and public discussion cannot be shut down, as lomcn does not distribute or encourage the distribution of wemade's software for profit it cannot have legal action against it or be shut down

ah the loop holes in the british law hense why using p2p is perfectly legal as long as your not distributing anything or downloading illegal content, on top of that you have got the data protection act which gives you more protection and my favorite anonymity
