Ok this on behalf of my dad, its happend twice so far on the same computer but completely diffrent parts, the computer was working fine for about 2 weeks, now its just come up with "missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system" when you try to load up the system. ive googled it and tried just about everything on there.

Putting the Xp disk in, going to the recovery console then typing

Chkdsk /p
fixboot
exit

also trying

Cd system32/config

dir system

If they work, type ren system system.bak

copy C:\windows\repair\system

Ive tried boot disks to repair it but, most of my floppy disks are fuked up.
if any one can give any insight in to repairing it instead of having to reinstall windows over again.

thanks.

If it's happened twice, don't use that HDD anymore. It more than likely has bad sectors.
